TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) - Florida State softball junior centerfielder Courtney Senas has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, announced today by the ACC.
Senas, who hails from Wahiawa, Hawaii, was Florida State's main offensive force last weekend at the Unconquered Invitational. The junior went 6-for-16 (.375) with two home runs, 10 RBIs, two doubles and three runs scored as the Seminoles finished 3-2 in the tournament. The ACC weekly honor is Senas' first of her career.
One of Senas' best games of her Seminole career took place against No. 25 Hofstra on Feb. 16 when she delivered a two-run home run and a career-high five RBIs off one of the country's most highly-touted pitchers in Olivia Galati. In Florida State's two victories over the nationally-ranked Pride, Senas combined to go 4-for-7 with eight RBIs.
For the week, Senas tied or led the Seminoles in batting average, base hits, RBIs, doubles, home runs, total bases (14) and slugging percentage (.875). She had multiple-hit performances in three of her five games played.
Senas and the Seminoles begin a challenging week when they travel to UCF for a matchup on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. Florida State then heads to one of the most prestigious regular-season tournaments in the nation in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Palm Springs, Calif. Over the weekend, the Seminoles will face nationally-ranked Oklahoma, Washington and Stanford in addition to Nebraska and Long Island.
