TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-- The #17 Florida State softball team swept North Carolina 3-2, 7-6 Friday at Lady Seminole Field in Tallahassee. With the win, the Seminoles, who have won their last 12 games, improved to 32-12 and 2-0 against ACC opponents.
In the first game, North Carolina jumped ahead 1-0 in the first inning, but the Noles scored two in the first and one in the third to take the lead. UNC could only manage one more run in the fourth as FSU went on to win.
In the second game, Florida State rallied after being down 5-1, to win the game when a North Carolina error scored the winning run from third to give Florida State the victory 7-6.
Pitcher Jennifer White (23-7) picked up both wins for the Seminoles. In the first game, she went all seven innings giving up only one earned run in the victory. White then relieved starter Stacey Venable in the third inning of the second game. She pitched four innings giving up only one earned run.
Offensively, the Seminoles were led by Corrie Williams and Jessie McGregor. Williams, who went three for four in the second game, led all Seminole batters with four hits in seven attempts and had two RBIs. McGregor had two RBIs on the game and a double.
The Lady Seminoles play a doubleheader against Youngstown State on Wednesday the 25th at 5:30 at Lady Seminole Field.
