TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -Florida State extends its winning streak to four with a 5-0 win over Florida A&M on Wednesday night at the Lady Rattler Softball Complex. The Seminoles are now 5-1 on the season and the win is the eighth straight in the all-time series against the Rattlers.
Picking up her first win this year was sophomore Sarah Hamilton who improved her ERA to 2.29 after striking out 13 batters and giving up just one hit.
Leading the Noles on offense were designated player Mallory Borden and catcher Kaleigh Rafter. Borden, a sophomore transfer from Santa Fe Junior College, went a near perfect 3-for-4, including a double, drove in one run and scored two. Rafter, the ACC Player of the Week, was 2-for-4 on the evening and scored the first run for FSU in the first. The starting catcher has recorded a hit in all six games this year and tonight was her fourth multi-hit game.
After seven, Florida State notched eight hits and committed two errors while FAMU managed one hit with three gaffes.
FSU opens its home schedule as it hosts the first of three tournaments, the Sunshine Classic, beginning with Appalachian State at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13. This weekend starts a 10-game home stretch for the Seminoles before hitting the road again at the end of the month.
Seminole Softball's Fan Day is Saturday, Feb. 14, and the first 200 fans in attendance to the 2:30 p.m. FSU vs. Miami (Ohio) University game will receive a FREE garnet and gold shaker. There will also be a post-game autograph session immediately following the game with the team.
