FSU Softball Starts off Season with Sweep of MercerSeminoles notch 5-1 and 9-1 victoriesFeb. 7, 1998 MACON, Ga. -- The Florida State softball team opened the season with a double header sweep of Mercer Saturday at Bear Field on Mercer's campus. The Seminoles won the first game 5-1 and followed with a 9-1 decision over the Bears. For the day, the Seminoles had 21 hits including three doubles. Teresa Edenfield had two hits and four RBIs. Kristy Hull and Misty Molin each had three hits and three runs. Freshman Jennifer White, in her first start for Florida State, pitched seven innings giving up no runs for the victory in the first game. In the second contest, Stacey Venable pitched four innings giving up one earned to gain the win. The Seminoles take the field in the double header home opener against Georgia Southern at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at Lady Seminole Field. |
