Tommy Santiago joined the Florida State softball staff as a volunteer coach in 2008 after spending the 2007-2008 season as an assistant softball coach at South Suburban College in South Holland, Ill. He was promoted to a full-time role as assistant coach in the summer of 2010.

Santiago was an All-Conference varsity baseball player at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, which is where his coaching career began in 2003. As the assistant varsity baseball coach, Santiago spent five seasons with the Vikings before making the move to college softball in 2007.

On top of coaching at the high school and collegiate level, Santiago also has five years of private instruction experience in baseball and softball at the Diamond Sports Academy in Mokena, Ill.

Before he got his feet wet coaching, Santiago was an All-Collegiate Conference baseball player at Parkland College where he played from 1998-2000 while earning an associate's degree in physical education. He then earned All-Mid-South Conference honors while playing at Campbellsville from 2000-2002.

Santiago's experience also includes time spent in Minor League Baseball where he played in St. Louis, Mo., for the River City Rascals of the Frontier League in 2005.

A 2003 graduate of Campbellsville University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science and sports medicine.
