2006 Season Highlights: Played in 32 games, making 21 starts at catcher. Missed 22 games during the middle of the season after sustaining a hand injury against Cal State Northridge. Raised her average 20 points during the last month of the season. Picked hits in each of her last three games, including a single in the last bat of her collegiate career. Fifth on the team with a .308 batting average during the NCAA Tournament. 2006 Game Highlights: Scored the game-winning run three times, including a pair of ACC games - North Carolina & Virginia Tech. Drove in run with an RBI double then came around to score against the Hokies (4/22). Also had an RBI double in game two at Jacksonville (2/22). 2006 NCAA Tournament Highlights: Tied for the team lead with three hits during the NCAA Tournament Super Regional. Got the start in both of the Super Regional games against Arizona State. Equaled her career-best with two hits versus Arizona State (5/26) during the first game of the Super Regional. Started both regional championship games against Georgia, throwing out a runner in each contest. Had a single in game two -- her first in the NCAA Tournament -- as FSU beat the Bulldogs to advance to the Super Regional. 2005 Season Highlights: Set career-highs with 39 games played and 34 starts behind the plate. Had her best season at the plate, resetting all of her offensive career highs. Threw out double-digit runners for the third year in a row, upping her career total to 40. Third on the team with nine multi-hit games. Ranked in the top five in four offensive categories, including third with 12 sacrifice bunts. 2005 Game Highlights: Posted her first career multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 against SE Louisiana (2/19) during the Sunshine State Tournament. Second game of a doubleheader with North Carolina (3/4) saw her cross the plate twice for the first time in her tenure. Lone hit against St. Joseph's (3/11) at the FSU Invitational was her first career triple. Cranked her first collegiate home run with a solo shot against Troy (5/1). Went to the plate a career-high five times versus Virginia Tech (5/12) at the ACC Tournament. 2004 Season Highlights: Perfect behind the plate with a 1.000 fielding percentage in 330 chances. Led FSU with a .583 stolen base allowed (SBA) percentage as she pegged 10 of the 24 runners that tested her arm. Also had all three of Florida State's pickoffs in 2004. Of FSU's two starting catcher's, Gay had the fewest passed balls, the lowest SBA, the most assists, chances and putouts. Member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll and the Dean's List for the fall of 2003. 2004 WCWS Highlights: Replaced Elisa Vasquez at catcher and made an appearance against LSU (5/30). 2004 Game Highlights: Threw out a pair of runners against So. Mississippi (3/15). Gunned down opposing base runners in eight games. Made five appearances at the plate, catching most of the time for USA Softball Player of the Year Jessica van der Linden. 2003 Season Highlights: Second amongst all freshmen in starts and third in appearances. Second on the team in chances and putouts. Allowed the fewest stolen bases and threw out the most base stealers on the team. Gunned down almost 60 percent of would-be stealers. Second amongst all freshmen in slugging percentage, third in at bats, hits, doubles and on base percentage. Strong performance in the classroom earned her a spot on the ACC Academic Honor Roll. 2003 Game Highlights: Recorded her first career hit and scored her first career run against Florida A&M (2/7). Collected another hit in her next start, getting her first-ever RBI versus Iowa State (2/14). Against ranked UMass (2/23) in the NFCA Classic she recorded the first double of her career going 1-for-2. Registered a season-high three assists against Iowa State and Troy State (3/5). Had a career-high 18 putouts in a 10-inning win over Boston University (3/22) Appeared in two games during the 2003 ACC Tournament, the Seminoles' victory over Georgia Tech and their championship- game victory over Virginia. High School: Named Class 5A First-Team All-State in 2002 and Class 6A First-Team All-State in 2000. Wendy's High School Heisman candidate in 2002. Two-time Lincoln MVP and four-time Offensive Player of the Year. First-Team All-Big Bend three straight years. Named Athlete of the Year and Most Athletic as a senior. Set the single season record for putouts as a sophomore and the single season hit record as a senior. Holds Lincoln's career record for doubles, RBIs and putouts.
