2004: A 2004 NFCA 2nd Team and Easton 1st Team All-American...the first FSU pitcher since Toni Gutierrez in 1992 to put together back-to-back sub 1.00 ERA seasons...selected as a member of the 2004 NFCA All-Southeastern Region team...named 2004 ACC Tournament MVP...completed 2004 with a 33-4 record and an average ERA of 0.63...had a 21-game winning streak during the season that ended in a loss against LSU at the WCWS...was third in the nation in ERA and fifth in the nation in wins...half of the No. 1 pitching staff in the NCAA...became just the sixth 30 game winner in FSU history this season...recorded wins against (ranking at time of the game) No. 15 Texas, No. 20 South Carolina, No. 23 Arizona State and (current rankings) No. 20 Notre Dame, No. 23 Georgia Tech (three times) and No. 21 Florida...issued three or less walks in 33 of her 37 starts...went a perfect 6-0 with a 0.00 ERA in ACC games. In conference play she has five complete game shutouts, 39 strikeouts and just four walks while not allowing a single run...first in the ACC in wins, second in ERA, second in innings pitched, second in starts, third in shutouts, third in complete games, third in opponent batting average and fifth in strikeouts...Hunter allowed just eight earned runs in her last 170.1 innings...she has had streaks of 51innings and 86 innings without allowing an earned run this year. In her first 10 appearances of 2004, Hunter didn't allow an earned run in just for of those games. since then she appeared in 31 games and did not allow an earned run in 25 of those appearances...the senior has never given up a triple in her career and that spans over 1800 at bats...she recorded four no-hitters in 2004, and five total in her career.
2004 WCWS Highlights: Started in Florida State's final WCWS game against LSU...pitched five innings and watched her 21-game win streak come to an end in a 2-1 FSU loss...stuck out two batters.
2004 NCAA Regionals Highlights: Earned a 4-0 complete-game victory over Long Island in FSU's first game of the regional...struck out six batters in recording her fourth no-hitter and 14th shutout of the season...now has five career no-hitters to her credit...started and pitched three innings in FSU's 5-4, 12-inning come-from-behind win over Oregon.
2004 ACC Tournament Highlights: The Most Valuable Player of the ACC Tournament...won two games - both against No. 23 Georgia Tech - in leading the Seminoles to the ACC Championship...allowed only one earned run in 14 innings pitched...struck out 17 batters in 14 innings (1.2 strikeouts per inning)...recorded three 1-2-3 innings in game one against Georgia Tech and three against Georgia Tech in the championship game...carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning of the championship game and set down 12 batters in a row at one point during the game...allowed only six hits against 54 batters faced in her two appearances...held opponents to a .111 batting average in her two appearances...had an 8.5:1 strikeout to walk ratio with 17 strikeouts and only two walks.
2004 Game Highlights: She began the season in a way that would be familiar throughout the year, with a win. In the season opener, she pitched a five-inning victory over Illinois State (2/7) with six strikeouts...pitched six strong innings allowing only two hits and no earned runs in a win against Florida A&M (2/8) at the Seminole Classic. In her second start at the Seminole Classic she struck out nine in a victory at Mercer (2/11)...hurled her first no-hitter of the season while striking out 11 batters vs. Southern Miss. (2/15)...continued her winning ways with a six-inning, one hit, seven strike out performance against Georgia Southern (2/17)...sat down six batters on strikes in seven innings at Jacksonville (2/20)...began the NFCA Leadoff Classic in impressive fashion vs. Texas (2/27). She struck out a season-high 13 batters in the eight-inning win over the Longhorns. In her second start at the Classic she earned a no-decision after 4.1 innings against Oklahoma (2/28) with six strikeouts. Made a relief appearance vs. South Carolina (2/29) dominating three innings with no-hit softball along with seven strikeouts to earn her eighth-straight victory. Earned her first loss of the year in the final NFCA Leadoff Classic game vs. LSU (2/29) despite striking out 11 in seven innings...avenged her loss with an impressive no-hitter vs. Rhode Island (3/5) in five innings with nine strike outs at the Seminole Challenge. The victory would embark her on a career-high 20-game win streak. She later pitched the Seminoles to a victory vs. St. John's (3/6) to round out her performance at the Challenge...pitched a seven-inning win over UConn (3/9)...worked overtime to earn a 10-inning victory against Notre Dame (3/11)...turned in a stellar performance at the Florida State Invitational. She pitched 19 innings in three starts allowing only three hits and striking out 25 batters. She began the Invitational with wins over Robert Morris (3/12) and St. Joe's (3/13). In her second start of the day vs. St. Joe's, she pitched her first career perfect game striking out nine in five innings...pitched six innings in a win vs. Troy State (3/16)...she entered the prestigious KIA Classic with 16 wins and left with 19. Her first victory was a seven-inning, seven strikeout, two-hit shutout vs. Arizona (3/18). Next was a nine-strikeout performance against UNLV (3/19). She rounded out the Classic with a four-hit shutout with eight strikeouts vs. Cal State Fullerton (3/20)...struck out eight in seven innings against Florida International (3/25)...shutout Florida A&M (3/30) in a four-inning complete game...had a strong performance in a double header vs. Georgia Tech (4/3). She started the first game, pitching a shutout and then made a three-inning relief appearance in the second game allowing no hits to earn the win...started vs. Florida (3/7) pitching seven shutout innings and striking out 11 for the victory...pitched one inning in a start at UCF (4/10) for a no decision and started the second game to earn a win after four innings of work...turned in seven shutout innings accompanied by nine strike outs in the first game at Virginia (3/17)...worked seven innings to earn her second-straight shutout as she struck out 10 batters in game one at Maryland (4/18)...earned her career-high 28th win in a seven-inning shutout over North Carolina (4/24)...pitched a one-hitter while striking seven batters and issuing no walks as she beat NC State (5/1) and improved to 6-0 in ACC play...versus No. 14 Auburn (5/3) Hunter was a hard-luck loser as she pitched 7.2 innings and didn't allow an earned run as she fanned nine batters and walked none in an eight inning, 1-0 loss in international tiebreaker...after getting tagged with a loss to No. 6 Michigan (5/8) despite once again not allowing an earned run, Hunter finished the regular season by setting a new career high with her 13th shutout in a 2-0 win over Eastern Michigan (5/10). She struck out 10 batters and once again did not issue a single free pass.
2003: Named All-ACC and second-team NFCA All-Region in her first season as a starter ... sophomore hurler had one of the most dominant seasons in the nation inside the circle ...ace of an FSU pitching staff, which had the nation 's fourth-best ERA (0.86)...the Millstadt, Ill. native finished fifth in the nation in ERA (0.67)and 14th in the nation for wins (27)...one of just three sophomores in FSU history to lead the team in wins, ERA, strikeouts, shutouts and appearances ...had the best season by a sophomore pitcher at Florida State since Julie Larsen in 1986 ...just the third Seminole in the last 10 years to finish the season with an ERA below 1.00 ...won 15 straight decisions and had a streak of 28 scoreless innings during FSU 's 27-game winning streak ...allowed more than two earned runs just once in 38 appearances and didn't 't allow a single earned run in 24 of those outings ...allowed three hits or less in 18 of her 31 starts and threw thee one-hitters and a no-hitter ...registered seven or more strikeouts in 15 of her 31 starts and had six double-digit K games last season ...set a career high for Ks (15) against Pacific who was ranked 20th in the nation at the time ...didn't 't walk a single batter in four of her starts ...led FSU in ERA, wins, starts, appearances, complete games, shutouts, innings pitched and fewest earned runs ...named ACC Player of the Week February 24th after throwing her first career no-hitter (Florida A&M ),winning her first ever start versus a Top 25 team (No. 20 Pacific )and striking out 15 batters in a game (Pacific )for the first time in her career. GAME HIGHLIGHTS: Started 2003 by throwing a complete game against Georgia Southern and striking out a career high 13 in picking up her first victory of the season ...pitched her first shutout of the season in an 8-0 victory over Auburn allowing only two hits over six innings ...picked up her second victory in the same night against the Tigers as she pitched two innings in relief, striking out four batters ...allowed just two earned runs in 14 innings of work versus Oregon and SE Louisiana ...at the Sunshine State Tournament and against FAMU , Hunter pitched 21 innings, posted a record of 3-0,didn 't allow a single earned run, struck out 28 batters, walked just four, held opponents to a .116 average and threw the first no-hitter of her career ...struck out 11 and threw the first no-hitter of her career versus FAMU ...at the 2003 NFCA Leadoff Classic, the reigning ACC Player if the Week recorded her first top 25 win and set a career high with 15 K 's in a game. Her ERA for the tournament was just 0.89 and opponents hit just .064 against her ...started the tournament off with the most dominant performance of her career against the best team she has ever started against. Hunter allowed then-No.18 Pacific just two hits and struck out 15 batters en route to a 8-1 win ...turned around and one-hit then-No.25 UMass ...shut out Rutgers by allowing three hits and one walk on top of striking out 13 ...was the hard luck loser versus Penn State as her defense let her down. She pitched 10.1 innings and didn't 't give up an earned run ...named to the 2003 Seminole Invitational All-Tournament team ...started Kia Klassic play with a dominating performance against Long Beach State .The sophomore struck out eight batters and issued just two walks as she recorded her sixth shutout of the season ...in a 5-1 win over Princeton at the Buzz Classic she retired 15 straight batters at one point...then took the hill against Middle Tennessee and picked up her seventh shutout and 16th complete game of the year ...won three games in a week as she recoded both decisions against Maryland and another win over FAMU ...against UNC , Hunter out dueled Tar Heel ace Crystal Cox as she shut out UNC for the first time all season in Chapel Hill. She struck out seven more batters and limited the potent UNC offense to just five hits. Also held the Heels without a homer in their own park for the first time in 2003 ...upped her consecutive win streak to 10 games including her ninth shutout of the season in a win versus UCF in which she allowed just one run and had a no-hitter through eight innings ...was dominant against Furman as she didn't 't allow a run or issue a walk in the seven-inning win ...won her 11th and 12th in a row as she posted a 2-0 record and a 0.00 ERA against No.22 Florida and a hard- hitting Virginia team ...pitched back-to-back shutouts in two big time games including her first- ever start in the park of an opposing Top 25 team. Add to that it was the Gators in Gainesville. Walked just two batters, struck out nine and went the whole way allowing just four hits in the 5-0 win ...dominated again in her next start against a UVA team hitting almost .300.She didn't 't walk a single batter and picked up three Ks in the seven-inning,5-0 shutout win ...completed a perfect ACC season as she limited Georgia Tech to just two hits in a 4-0 shutout ...earned two wins in the 2003 ACC Tournament including the championship-clinching victory over Virginia in the title game ...first Seminole pitcher to earn multiple wins in the ACC Tournament since Leslie Malerich won two games against Maryland in 2001 ...appeared in all three games during the tournament with two starts (both wins against Virginia )and one relief appearance (in the Seminoles ' victory over Georgia Tech )...allowed only one earned run in 10 innings pitched with the only earned run allowed coming in the fifth inning of the Seminoles ' first game of the tournament ...faced 45 batters during the ACC Tournament and allowed only six (13.3 percent)to get to third base and only three to score (6.7 percent).
2002: Went a perfect 4-0 in her freshman campaign as she learned from two of FSU's all-time greats (Leslie Malerich & Jessica van der Linden)...will be counted on to make a major contribution this season due to the departure of all-time FSU wins leader Leslie Malerich...led all FSU pitchers by holding right handed hitters to a .176 batting average...also tops on the team in opponent batting average with runners on base (.183)...averaged an amazing 8.59 strikeouts per game, which led all pitchers...didn't give up a triple or a home run in 36.2 innings last year...made her first collegiate start against Syracuse in the Seminole Classic where she pitched a complete game allowing only three runs while striking out six batters for her first collegiate victory...against St. John's, Hunter pitched 3.2 innings striking out three in picking up her second win of the year...in a relief appearance against Dayton at the Troy Cox Classic, she pitched two innings, striking out six of the seven batters that she faced...collected her first collegiate save against Pittsburgh going three solid innings, allowing only one hit and striking out three Panther batters...at the Kia Klassic, Hunter pitched four innings in relief versus Rutgers to collect her third victory of the year...she allowed only one run on four hits, while striking out five...versus cross-town rival FAMU, she amassed her second save in three strong innings of no-hit ball...she went on to strike out four Rattlerettes...her best relief performance of the season came in a 7-1 defeat to Florida...she shut down the Gators, striking out seven batters, giving up no runs on only one hit in five innings of relief for the Seminoles...had a great performance in the 2002 NCAA Tallahassee Regional versus Georgia Tech...pitched two innings in relief of Jessica van der Linden and Leslie Malerich...allowed zero runs and only two hits in two complete innings pitched while striking out two and walking two...faced 10 batters...struck out the first batter she faced and allowed only two singles...allowed only one runner to reach third base.
High school: Considered one of Illinois' top high school pitchers...named the Bellville News-Democrat Class AA Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year by the Journal Newspaper of Southern Illinois...as a junior for the Bellville West Maroons, Hunter posted a 15-2 record with a 0.35 ERA...in 120 innings of work, she struck out 225 batters and issued only 31 walks...a three-sport star, Hunter was also a middle blocker for the school's 28-1 volleyball team and she also played basketball during her junior and senior years
