TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State's Tiffany McCarty continued to add to an already impressive career resume as she was recently named to the 2012 Women's College Cup All-Tournament Team. Trailing by a goal until the final minute of regulation against Penn State in the 2012 national semifinal, McCarty found the equalizer with 41 seconds left to play heading in a cross from Kristin Grubka to even the score at 1-1 and force overtime. The goal was the second latest game-tying goal in school history coming just five seconds shy of the record set by Tori Huster when she forced overtime at Virginia in 2011. McCarty, who finished the season with a team-high 39 points and 17 goals, tallied 10 goals in her last seven matches. The senior forward scored in all five NCAA Tournament games while posting multiple goal games against Mississippi Valley State and Texas Tech. McCarty was credited with the game-winning goals against the Red Raiders and Notre Dame. The Laurel, Md., native finished the season ranked in the top 10 in the ACC in three offensive categories while ranking nationally in total goals (10th), game-winning goals (t-17th), total points (15th), goals per game (19th) and points per game (27th). A third team All-American by the NSCAA in 2012 and a three-time All-ACC selection, McCarty leaves Florida State as the record holder in 13 different offensive categories. 2012 Women's College Cup All-Tournament Team Most Outstanding Player on DEFENSE Most Outstanding Player on OFFENSE ---www.seminoles.com--- |
