KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Add another program first for the Florida State women's soccer team as four student-athletes earned All-America accolades as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) in conjunction with adidas. Sophomore Amanda DaCosta and junior Becky Edwards earned first team honors, while senior Sarah Wagenfuhr and sophomore Sanna Talonen were named to the second team.

Florida State and North Carolina led all schools nationally with four All-American selections each. The four Seminole honorees marked the most in one season in school history. It surpasses the previous record of three set in 2006 with Kelly Rowland (1st), India Trotter (1st) and Selin Kuralay (2nd) all receiving honors courtesy of the NSCAA.

Along with being named to the All-American team, all four individuals earned a spot on the NSCAA/adidas All-Southeast Region first team. Freshman Tiffany McCarty was also honored grabbing a spot on the All-Southeast Regional second team.

DaCosta also earned first team All-ACC accolades in 2008 as she was the only Seminole to repeat as an all-conference honoree from last year. She finished the season fifth in points on four goals and six assists. The Katonah, N.Y. native was involved in six game-winning situations this year with two game-winning goals and a team-high four game-winning assists. DaCosta has started every match at Florida State since arriving in Tallahassee in 2007, a span of 50 straight games.

Edwards appeared in 17 games while making 12 starts for the Seminoles in 2008. The Downingtown, Pa., native tallied three points (1 goal, 1 assist) in over 1,300 minutes of action. She played an integral role in the Seminole backline which gave up just 15 goals all season, the fewest allowed in school history. Edwards was a member of the U.S. U-20 squad that won the gold medal at the 2008 FIFA Youth World Cup in Chile.

Wagenfuhr had a career year in her final season at Florida State as she finished fourth on the team in points with 16 (4 goals, 8 assists). Thirteen of those points came in league play tying for the third most points recorded in a single season at FSU in the ACC. She surpassed her career point total of eight from her first three seasons combined. Wagenfuhr, along with Edwards, was a key member of the Seminole backline which gave up just 15 goals all season, the fewest allowed in school history.

Talonen had a stellar sophomore season as she finished the year as the team leader in points (36), goals (16) and game-winning goals (6) en route to earning first team All-ACC accolades. At one point during the year, Talonen registered a goal in six straight games. She has wrecked havoc away from home in just two seasons notching 32 career points on the road. Eleven of her 16 goals in 2008 came away from home. On the career charts, Talonen is first all-time at Florida State in game-winning goals (12) and multi-goal games (9). She also set the single-season record for points and goals in ACC play at FSU with 19 and nine, respectively.

McCarty wrapped up her freshman season leading the team in shots (73) while ranking second in points (28) and goals (11). She set the freshman individual season record at Florida State for shots, while finishing third in points and goals. McCarty led all freshmen in the ACC in points, goals and assists en route to becoming the first Seminole in school history to receive ACC Freshman of the Year honors.
