Dec. 4, 2008
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Want to take your soccer game to the next level? How would you like to learn from the nation's elite college coaching staff? Then the Mark Krikorian Soccer Academy at Florida State University is where you need to be.
Boys and girls, ages 5-18, can take advantage of three separate camps offered this year including a two-day winter academy and two, four-day summer sessions in June. Campers will be given an unforgettable soccer experience as they learn from a coaching staff with years of professional, international and college experience as well as from the top collegiate players at Florida State.
The camp will be under the direction of the 2002 WUSA Coach of the Year and 2006 Soccer America Coach of the Year Mark Krikorian. In his first four seasons at the helm of the Florida State women's soccer team, Krikorian has guided the Seminoles to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament each year including three consecutive College Cup appearances (2005, 2006, 2007). Joining Krikorian at this year's camp will be associate head coach Eric Bell (3rd Season at FSU), assistant coach Paul Rogers (2nd season at FSU), volunteer assistant coach Lydia Vandenbergh (1st season at FSU), graduate manager Jean Rettig (1st season at FSU) and a list of Seminole players.
The primary focus of these camps will be on the technical application of the sport with dedicated training in specific areas including passing, shooting techniques, receiving, dribbling and team tactics.
The winter academy is an accelerated two-day program geared toward technical growth and refinement. Players will be divided into age and skill appropriate groups, allowing for immediate immersion into challenging and interactive drills. The winter academy will be held January 3-4, 2009 as campers can attend for $80 per player.
The first summer day camp will kickoff the week of June 1-4 with the second one running June 8-11. The cost for both summer day camps is $225 per player.
It is Florida State's goal that every player leaves camp with a feeling of accomplishment, a better understanding of the game and an intensified passion for soccer.
