Florida State earned the ACC's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament after claiming its second league title in the last three years with a 1-0 victory over Virginia Tech in the conference championship game. This year's berth marks the Seminoles' 14th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Ole Miss earned an at-large bid out of the SEC. The Rebels are making their fifth NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2009.

The last time the Seminoles faced an SEC opponent in the postseason was last year in the Third Round as FSU shut out Texas A&M 4-0.

FSU had won 18 straight NCAA Tournament games inside the Seminole Soccer Complex before suffering its first home loss in the Elite Eight back in 2009. Florida State is 13-0-1 at home in 2013 and is carrying a 32-game (31-0-1) home unbeaten streak into Thursday's second round match.
