Game Notes - Week 11 Miami

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - With the ACC regular season title in hand, No. 1 Florida State concludes its three-game road trip against intra-state rival Miami on Thursday, October 26 to wrap-up the 2012 regular season schedule. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and will air live on the ACC Digital Network/YouTube.

FSU (15-1-0, 8-1-0 ACC) has won 12 straight over Miami (8-6-3, 3-4-2 ACC) after the Hurricanes took the first two games of the series which began in 1998. The Seminoles are a perfect 8-0 since Miami joined the ACC in 2004. Thursday's match marks the 15th meeting between the Seminoles and Hurricanes as these two teams have never faced each other more than once in the 17 previous seasons of Seminole Soccer.

During the Seminoles' current 12-game winning streak, FSU has outscored UM 37-9. Miami's two goals last year were the most scored against FSU since a 3-0 victory over the Seminoles in 1999. From 2000 to 2010, FSU allowed just seven goals to Miami while posting four shutouts.

Twice has a game been decided by just one goal - both won by FSU. The Seminoles have posted four shutouts (2004, 06, 08, 10) in the series to just one by the Hurricanes (1999).

The Seminoles are 8-8-1 in closing out the regular season but are unbeaten in their last seven regular season finales (6-0-1). FSU's trip to Miami marks the sixth straight year and seventh time in eight years the Noles have ended the season on the road. FSU has never faced Miami to wrap-up the regular season.

Florida State enters the week at No. 1 in the Soccer America top 25 poll for the seventh week in a row. Combining two of the national polls, FSU has been ranked No. 1 for a school-record nine straight weeks in 2012 and owns an all-time record of 18-2-0 when holding the top spot in the nation including a mark of 13-1-0 this year.

FSU is 8-1-0 against ranked teams in 2012 and 5-0-0 against teams ranked in the top 10; the Seminoles are 8-1-0 against the NCAA top 35 RPI teams. Florida State remained at No. 2 in the latest RPI as released by the NCAA on October 22.

With a win at Maryland last Sunday, Florida State clinched its second ACC regular season title in school history and first since 2009. The win over the Terps was FSU's eighth league victory which tied a single-season school record first set in 2005 (8-2-0) and then matched again in 2008 (8-1-1). A win at Miami on Thursday night would give the Seminoles the single-season school record for wins and winning percentage in ACC play.

FSU continues to rank among the nation's best defensively as the Seminoles rank in the top 3 in three defensive categories including first in shutout percentage (0.813), second in save percentage (0.893) and third in goals against average (0.374).
