TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 15 Florida State (10-6-0, 3-5-0 ACC) closes out its regular season home schedule this Sunday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m., against intra-state rival Miami (9-5-1, 3-4-1 ACC) with major implications on the line for the ACC Tournament.
The Seminoles enter the contest with nine points in the ACC standings trailing both Virginia Tech and Miami by one-point for seventh and eighth place. The chance to clinch one of the top four seeds in the upcoming tournament is still a possibility for the Seminoles but they must win their final two games against the Hurricanes and the Hokies and then get some help from the rest of the league.
Sunday's match marks the 14th meeting between the Seminoles and Hurricanes. Florida State has won 11 straight over Miami after the Hurricanes took the first two games of the series which began in 1998. The Seminoles are a perfect 7-0 since Miami joined the ACC in 2004 outscoring the Hurricanes 18-3.
During the current 11-game winning streak, FSU has outscored UM 33-7. The Seminoles have not allowed more than one goal to the Hurricanes since 2000 while posting shutouts in four of the last seven games.
FSU has won five straight on its home turf as Miami's only win in Tallahassee came in 1999, a 3-0 victory. FSU is 8-7-1 in its final home game of the regular season having won four straight and unbeaten in its last six (5-0-1).
