TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) - Dagny Brynjarsdottir guided No. 11 Florida State to a key ACC victory over No. 4 Boston College last Sunday and for her efforts was named to Soccer America's Team of the Week. It marks the first weekly honor of her collegiate career.
Brynjarsdottir scored the lone goal on a header in the 84th minute to give FSU the 1-0 win. The freshman midfielder connected on her only shot of the afternoon putting away a header from close range off a double passing combination from Tiffany McCarty and Katie Riley. The game-winner was the first of her career and came in a must win situation for the Noles. The win kept the Seminoles alive in the race for a top eight seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament.
In a tough loss against Maryland on Thursday, Brynjarsdottir led all players with four shots including two shots on goal. For the season, the Icelandic native has nine points on three goals and three assists.
Brynjarsdottir and the Seminoles will return to action this Sunday, October 23 when they host intra-state rival Miami at the Seminole Soccer Complex in the final home game of the regular season. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
