TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 5 Florida State (9-0-3, 4-0-2 ACC) returns home to face Boston College (6-5-0, 3-3-0 ACC) on Thursday, October 3 at 7:00 p.m. as the FSU Athletics Department kicks off its annual `Paint It Pink' campaign in an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer.
FSU players will wear pink jerseys for the match in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Fans will have a chance to bid on the jerseys online at Seminoles.com following the match. Donations of $10 or more at the gate Thursday night will be accompanied by a commemorative pink t-shirt. Proceeds from the match will be donated to the Tallahassee Memorial Cancer Center. Since the inception of the Paint It Pink campaign, the Florida State University Women's athletics teams have raised over $43,000.
The Seminoles have performed well when donning the pink jerseys posting a perfect 5-0-0 all-time while outscoring the opposition 20-1.
Florida State leads the all-time series against Boston College at 9-1-2. The Seminoles are a perfect 6-0-0 at home against the Eagles posting five shutouts. The only time BC has scored against FSU in Tallahassee was in a 3-2 loss back in 2009.
FSU and BC faced each other twice in 2012 with the Eagles defeating the Noles 3-2 in Chestnut Hill during the regular season snapping FSU's 14-game win streak to open the year while marking the first-ever win for BC in the series. The Seminoles got their revenge in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament beating the Eagles 4-0 in Tallahassee.
The Seminoles have outscored the Eagles 18-5 in the series as 10 of the 12 matches in the series have been decided by one goal or less including nine of the last 10. Six of those matches have been 1-0 decisions in favor of Florida State.
FSU enters the week as one of just four remaining unbeaten teams in the nation joining Virginia (11-0-0), Stanford (8-0-1) and Georgetown (9-0-2).
The Seminoles are slightly off last year's goals allowed pace through the first 12 games in 2013. FSU has yielded just four goals this year, while last year through 12 games the Noles had allowed just three.
On Thursday, Florida State will look to extend its school-record home unbeaten streak which currently stands at 26 games (25-0-1) - tied for the 14th longest home streak without a loss in NCAA history.
Along with `Painting the Plex Pink,' Thursday night's match against the Eagles is also a student loyalty game as FSU students, who present their student ID at the gate, will receive points for attending the match. Admission to every regular season home match inside the Seminole Soccer Complex is free of charge.
The match will air on ESPN3, while live stats will be available via. As always, Seminole fans can follow the Noles on twitter @FSU_Soccer and remember to like the Seminoles on Facebook (www.facebook.com/FSUSoccer) and on Instagram (NoleSoccer).
