FSU Welcomes Oklahoma State & Oklahoma This Weekend

Florida State moved to No. 2 in the NSCAA and Soccer Times top 25 polls after posting back-to-back shutout victories over ranked opponents last weekend.


Game Notes - Week 3 vs. Oklahoma State & Oklahoma

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 2 Florida State (4-0-0) takes its undefeated record into this weekend's matches against two opponents the Seminoles will face for the first time as the Garnet & Gold welcomes Oklahoma State (3-0-1) and Oklahoma (2-2-0) to Tallahassee beginning Friday evening.

The Seminoles will square-off against the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State on Friday, September 6 at 7:00 p.m. as the first 150 fans in attendance will receive a free FSU t-shirt. On Sunday, September 8, FSU will face Oklahoma at 1:00 p.m. in a loyalty point game available for all Florida State students.

The Seminoles have fared well when facing a team for the first time posting an all-time record of 56-28-4. The Garnet & Gold went 5-0-0 against first time opponents in 2012. Florida State has won 19 of their last 21 games (19-1-1) against first time opponents with their last loss coming at Stanford in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament in 2010. FSU is 23-3-1 against first time opponents under head coach Mark Krikorian.

Florida State is no stranger to playing against schools in the Big 12 Conference having faced five of the league's current 10-team membership prior to this weekend's match-ups. The Seminoles are 5-1-0 all-time against Big 12 schools and 3-0-0 at home with their lone loss coming against Kansas in Lawrence back in 2003. The last three Big 12 opponents have all come during NCAA Tournament play as FSU defeated West Virginia (2003) in Morgantown and then Texas (2007) and Texas Tech (2012) in Tallahassee.

FSU is 3-0-0 at home in 2013 and has won a school-record 21 straight matches inside the Seminole Soccer Complex in a streak dating back to 2011. The Seminoles are outscoring the opposition 6-1 at home this year.

Overall, Florida State has outscored opponents 9-1 through the first four games. The Seminoles have registered three shutouts in 2013 and have not allowed a goal over the last 189:30. Dating back to the start of the 2012 season, FSU has given up just 16 goals in 28 matches with 20 shutouts during the span.

Statistically speaking freshman Nickolette Driesse enters the weekend tied for fourth in the ACC with three assists and tied for seventh in assists per game at 0.75. Sophomore Nora Kervroedan is tied for the league lead with two game-winning goals as she registered the game-winners against Oregon State and Auburn, while redshirt senior keeper Kelsey Wys' three shutouts are the most in the ACC in 2013.
