TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State's Dagny Brynjarsdottir was honored on TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week and as a Primetime Player by CollegeSoccer360.com in leading the Seminoles to a pair of victories over nationally ranked intra-state rivals last weekend.
Brynjarsdottir picked a great time to register her first career multi-goal game scoring twice in a 3-0 rout of No. 8 Florida in Gainesville last Friday. The Icelandic native broke a scoreless tie in the 27th minute with her first goal of the game and her first score of the season. She gave the Seminoles a commanding 2-0 advantage just two minutes and nine seconds later putting away a header off a throw-in.
With her two goals against the Gators, Brynjarsdottir became just the fourth Seminole to score twice against Florida in the history of the series joining Tiffany McCarty (2011), Holly Peltzer (2005) and Sel Kuralay (2005). She has three career goals against Florida with all three goals coming Gainesville.
The junior midfielder than played 87 out of a possible 95 minutes in a 1-0 overtime victory over No. 17 UCF.
Brynjarsdottir and the nationally ranked Seminole Soccer program are back in action this weekend with a pair of home matches against Oklahoma State (Friday, September 6) and Oklahoma (Sunday, September 8).
