Florida State travels to play in the 42nd Annual Lady Paladin Invitational at the Furman University Golf Course in its second event of the fall season Sept. 20-22, 2013. The Seminoles finished in sixth place at the Mo Morial Invitational at Texas A&M University in their first event of the season and will look to earn their first team championship of the 2013-14 season at the Lady Paladin. The Seminoles' sixth place finish at the Mo Morial Invitational marked their fifth top-six finish of the last two seasons and was their best fall season opening finish since finishing in fifth place at the 2011 Mo Morial Invitational. Following its participation in the Lady Paladin Invitational, the Seminoles will have just two fall events remaining on its schedule - the Schooner Classic hosted by the University of Oklahoma and the Alamo Invitational hosted by the University of Texas at San Antonio.
THE 2013 LADY PALADIN INVITATIONAL
Florida State is joined by Clemson, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Furman, Georgia Regents University (formerly Augusta State), Georgia State, Houston, Kennesaw State, Nova Southeastern, Samford, Southern Miss, Texas A&M, UNC Wilmington, Wisconsin and Wofford in the 42nd Annual Lady Paladin Invitational. The event will be played at the Par 72, 6,266 yard Furman University Golf Course - which is considered to be one of the top golf courses in the state of South Carolina. Tennessee Chattanooga won the team championship and Marion Duvernat of UTC won the individual championship in 2012.
Florida State most recently participated in the Lady Paladin Invitational during the fall of 2005. The Seminoles finished in seventh place in the team standings with Whitney Brummett finishing in a tie for fourth in the individual standings.
CASTREN LEADS SEMINOLES IN FIRST CAREER EVENT
Freshman Matilda Castren (Espoo, Finland) finished in a tie for 15th place in the individual standings at the Mo Morial Invitational to finish as the Seminoles' leader in her first career event. She carded scores of 75-74-73 for a three round total of 222. Castren's finish marked the fourth time in the last two seasons that a true freshman had led the Seminoles in an event. Current Florida State sophomore Olivia Hullert led the Seminoles in three events during the 2012-13 fall and spring seasons.
MILAN PLAYS BEST EVENT OF CAREER AT MO MORIAL
Junior Alex Milan finished in a tie for 17th place in the individual standings at the season opening Mo Morial Invitational with scores of 78-71-74 for a 7-over par score of 223. Her score of 71 in the second round and her 223 total for the three rounds ranks as her best scores of her 15-event Florida State career. Her score of plus seven strokes over par is the third best of her career (her best is a 2-over par score of 146 at the Spring 2013 Florida Challenge) while her tied for 17th place finish marked her third career top-20 finish - behind only a tied for third place finish at the Spring 2013 Florida Challenge and her tied for 14th place finish at the Spring 2013 Florida State Match-Up.
CURRENT SEMINOLES AS LEADERS
Four of Florida State's eight players have finished on top the Seminoles' leader board at least once during their careers with freshman Matilda Castren becoming the most recent player to finish as the Seminoles' leader at the Mo Morial Invitational to open the fall 2013 season. Castren is joined by Laure Castelain (Susie Maxwell Berning Classic, Fall 2011; Liz Murphey Classic, Spring 2012; Golf Week Challenge, Fall 2012; LSU Tiger Classic, Spring 2013), Olivia Hullert (Landfall Tradition, Fall 2012; Florida Challenge, Spring 2013; LSU Tiger Classic, Spring 2013; ACC Championships, Spring 2013) and Alex Milan (Landfall Tradition, Fall 2012) who have all taken the place as a top finisher for the Seminoles early in their careers.
A YOUNG BUT EXPERIENCED TEAM FOR BOND

Entering the Lady Paladin Invitational, the eight Seminoles on the roster have played in 62 combined events.
