SPEKEROD, SWEDEN - Caroline Westrup, a rising senior member of the nationally ranked Florida State women's golf team, helped lead Sweden to the team championship at the European Ladies' Amateur Team Championship at Stenungsunds Golf Course. Westrup was undefeated in match play as she led Sweden to victories over France, Spain and the Netherlands in the championship round as Sweden claimed its second consecutive championship in the event.

"I can't describe how good it felt to win in Sweden with all of the audience," said Westrtup. "We all played really good golf during the entire tournament."

The Swedes swept through match play with victories over France in the quarterfinals, Spain in the semifinals and the Netherlands in the championship round. Sweden was seeded third in the tournament after two rounds of stroke played and blazed through three rounds of match play to earn the championship.

Westrup finished in a tie for 40th (out of 96 competitors) in stroke play as she carded scores of 79 and 69 for a four-over par total of 148. Her score of 69 was tied for the fourth best score of the second round. She was then paired with teammate Anna Nordqvist (who finished in 21st place during the stoke play competition) for the match play segment of the championship.

Sweden began match play competition with a 6-1 victory over Spain. Westrup won her singles match over Valentine Derry (a sophomore at Texas Christian), 4 and 2, and team with Nordqvist to win their foursome match, 5 and 4. The Swedes won five of seven contested matches with two ending tied.

Sweden then defeated No. 1 seeded Spain, 4-3, in the semifinal match. Westrup was again victorious in singles play with an 18 hole victory over Belen Mozo (a sophomore at Southern California). Westrup won that match on the final hole. The Swedish pair of Westrup and Nordvquist was then victorious in the foursome competition with a 5-3 win to clinch the match and the Sweden to the championship finals.

Westrup helped Sweden clinch the championship with a 5-2 team win over the Netherlands for the title. She finished tied with Spain's Dewi Claire Schreefel (a senior at Southern California) in singles play and was victorious with Nordvquist in their foursome match seal the team title.
