Florida State Women's Golf Team Enjoys Strong Season In 2006-07
Dillman leads Seminoles to 14th NCAA Championship appearance in last 17 years.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -
The Florida State women's golf team earned two team championships, seven top-10 team finishes and played in the NCAA Regional Championships for the 14th time in the last 17 seasons as the Seminoles enjoyed another successful year under Head Coach Debbie Dillman. In addition to the outstanding team success enjoyed during the fall 2006 and spring 2007 seasons, the Seminoles also celebrated the outstanding career of sophomore Caroline Westrup who earned All-America First-Team and All-ACC honors for the second consecutive season. The Seminoles finished in a tie for 11th at the NCAA East Regional Championship, in third place at the ACC Championship and played in the National Golf Coaches' Association Match Play Championship for the first time in program history. The Seminoles defeated Florida, 5-0, in the first round of the NGCA Match Play Championship and finished in seventh place in the 16-team event.
RANKING THE SEMINOLES
Florida State finished the 2006-07 season ranked 24th nationally in the final team rankings by the editors of GolfWeek Magazine. It marked the second consecutive season and third time in the last four seasons that the Seminoles had earned a top-25 national ranking to end a season. The Seminoles finished the year ranked 26th nationally in the final NGCA/Golf World poll and 33rd in the head-to-head standings by GolfStat. The Seminoles were ranked as high as 24th nationally during the season in the NGCA/Golf World poll.
RANKING Caroline Westrup
Sophomore All-American Caroline Westrup finished her second season as a Seminole ranked third nationally by GolfWeek Magazine and sixth nationally in the final head-to-head individual standings by GolfStat. The No. 3 national individual ranking is the highest final national ranking ever achieved by a Seminole golfer.
SEMINOLES FINISH IN THIRD PLACE AT ACC CHAMPIONSHIP
All-American Caroline Westrup finished in second place in the individual standings and led the Seminoles to a third place finish in the team standings at the 19th Annual Atlantic Coast Conference Championship at the Carmel Country Club. Westrup tied the school record for the highest individual finish by a Florida State player in the ACC Championship in leading the Seminoles to their highest finish in the event since they also finished third in the team standings in 2001. Duke, the No. 1 ranked team in women's collegiate golf, won its unprecedented 12th consecutive conference championship as it outdistance second-place Wake Forest by 35 strokes and third-place Florida State by 40 strokes.
SEMINOLES PLAY WELL IN NCAA EAST REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Florida State finished in a tie for 11th place in the team standings at the 2007 NCAA East Regional Championship - three places and only eight strokes behind eighth place Louisville - and narrowly missed advancing to the NCAA Championship. The Seminoles began the final round 14 strokes out of the chase for the championship and played well enough to put themselves in position to qualify for the final weekend of play. The Seminoles were within five strokes of the eighth position and in 11th place during the round. American Caroline Westrup shot a two-under par 70 in the final round, finished with a career-best eight-under par 208 and advanced as an individual to the championship finals.
FLORIDA STATE EARNS TWO TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
Florida State earned two team championships in 2006-07 with victories coming in the fall 2006 Cougar Classic and in the spring 2007 Chrysler Classic which was hosted by the Seminoles at the Baytowne Course at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Sandestin, Fla. It marked the fifth and sixth team championships in the last five seasons for the Seminoles. The Seminoles have now won 20 team championships since Debbie Dillman became the Seminoles' head coach in 1985.

SEMINOLES' TWO WINS MATCH 14-YEAR HIGH
Florida State's two team championships - at the fall 2006 Cougar Classic and the spring 2007 Chrysler Challenge - ties a 14-year high for team championships in a single season. The Seminoles most recently won two tournament titles during the 2001-02 seasons. Florida State also earned two team titles during the 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons.

FLORIDA STATE FINISHES IN THE TOP 10
Florida State earned seven top-10 team finishes during the fall 2006 and spring 2007 seasons combined. It marked the second consecutive year the Seminoles had earned seven top-10 team finishes. In addition to their seven top-10 team finishes in traditional tournament formants, the Seminoles finished in seventh place in the NGCA Match-Play Championship during the fall of 2006.
INDIVIDUAL SEMINOLES FINISH WELL IN 2006-07
Sophomore All-American Caroline Westrup led Florida State with seven top-five team finishes in 2006-07 as the Seminoles earned 12 top-10 finishes by six different players. In addition to Westrup's seven top-five finishes, senior Kayla Shaul, juniors Whitney Brummett and Whitney Wright, sophomore Lauren Cousart and freshman Lacey Agnew all earned a top-10 individual finish during the year.

THREE SEMINOLES EARN BACHELOR'S DEGREES
Three Seminoles - Jaclyn Burch in sport management, Kayla Shaul in marketing and Michelle Steakin in communication studies - earned their bachelor's degrees from Florida State University following the 2006-07 season.
