TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) - The Florida State women's golf team will make its school record seventh consecutive NCAA Championships appearance as it was selected to compete in the NCAA Central Regional Championship on the Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Courses, May 10-12. The Seminoles were selected as one of 24 teams to participate in the regional competition with the top eight finishing teams advancing to play in the 2012 NCAA Division I Championships at the Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn., May 22-25. A total of 72 teams and 18 individuals were selected to play in the 2012 NCAA Women's Golf Championships. A total of eight teams and three individuals from each region will advance to the national championship round at the Vanderbilt Legends Course in Franklin, Tenn., May 22-25, 2012.

SEMINOLES IN SCHOOL RECORD SEVENTH CONSECUTIVE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP
Florida State will play in its seventh consecutive NCAA Women's Golf Championship this weekend at the Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Course complex. The Seminoles' previous school record of six consecutive postseason appearances came during the 1977 through 1982 seasons when the women's national championship was governed by the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women. Florida State won the A.I.A.W. championship in 1981 and has participated in 18 of the last 21 national championship tournaments since 1991.

THE 2012 NCAA CENTRAL REGIONAL FIELD
Florida State, which is ranked No. 25 in the nation by GolfWeek Magazine and seeded 10th in the NCAA Central Regional Championship, is joined by No. 3 Southern California, No. 5 Auburn, No. 10 Georgia, No. 12 Vanderbilt, No. 15 Tennessee, No. 19 Ohio State, No. 22 Oregon, No. 24 NC State, Virginia, Purdue, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Texas State, South Florida, Notre Dame, Texas San Antonio, East Carolina, Michigan, UNC Wilmington, Harvard, Butler and Siena in one of the three regionals which will determine the field of 24 for the NCAA Championships. (note -- teams are listed by Seeds with Southern California selected as the No. 1 seed in the region).

FLORIDA STATE'S NCAA REGIONAL HISTORY
Florida State has played in all but three regional championships since the NCAA adopted the regional qualifying format in 1991. The Seminoles have made 19 regional appearances and nine championship round appearances in the last 28 years. Florida State has finished in the national top-20 in four of the last eight years and finished in a program best 10th place in the NCAA Championship finals in 2010.

SALINAS EARNS SECOND ALL-ACC HONORS
Maria Salinas, who will lead the Seminoles into the NCAA Championships for the school record seventh consecutive season in 2012, was named to the All-ACC Women's Golf Team for the second consecutive year as announced by the league office. Salinas is now one of only four players in school history to earn All-ACC honors multiple times during her career. Salinas' selection to the All-ACC team marked the school record 12th consecutive season at least one Seminole has been named to the All-ACC team. Salinas (Lima, Peru) is enjoying the best season of her career as she is averaging a career-low 74.22 stroke average. She is the No. 5 ranked golfer in the ACC the GolfStat Cup rankings of the top individual players in college golf. Salinas tied the school record for best finish as the ACC Championship (tied for second) and won her first career individual championship at the Lady Gator Invitational in March. Salinas joins a select group of Seminoles - Karen Stupples, Kristin Tamulis and Caroline Westrup - who have earned All-ACC honors multiple times during their careers. Westrup earned the honor a school record four times while Tamulis was honored by the ACC three times during her career.

PERFECTION BY BOND
Second year Seminole head coach Amy Bond is batting 1.000. She is perfect in two straight years as the Seminoles head coach in leading the team to a pair of NCAA Championship appearances. Bond has lead the Seminoles to six top five team finishes in nine tournaments and eight top 10 finishes during the 2011-12 season. The team has earned success collectively with four different players finish as the Seminoles' leader in the team's nine events. Florida State's players have earned four top five individual finishes, eight top 25 individual finishes and one individual championship (Maria Salinas at the Lady Gator Invitational).

SEMINOLES FINISH FOURTH AT ACC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Senior Maria Salinas finished in a tie for second place in the individual standings and the Seminole women's golf team finished in fourth place in the team standings at the 24th annual ACC Women's Golf Championship at Sedgefield Country Club. Salinas tied the school record for best individual finish in the ACC Championship to help Florida State to its fourth top four team finish in the last six seasons. Salinas joined three other Seminoles in the history of the tournament who have finished in second place in the individual standings of the ACC Championship. She joined Mary Lee Cobick (1992), Tiffany Faucette (1995) and Caroline Westrup (2007 and 2008) as Seminoles who have finished as runners-up for the coveted title of ACC individual champion. In finishing in a tie for second place, Salinas established a personal best in a conference tournament - one spot better than her finish of tied for third at the Southern Conference Championship in 2009.

SEMINOLES BRING EXPERIENCED LINE-UP TO NCAA'S
Florida State's line-up at the 2011 NCAA Central Regional Championships (seniors Maria Salinas and Hannah Thomson, juniors Jessica Negron and Malin Jansson and freshman Laure Castelain) brings a combined total of eight NCAA regional championship appearances to the course at The Ohio State this week. Salinas, who will play in her fourth consecutive NCAA regional championship, finished in a tie for sixth place at the NCAA East Regional in 2011 and barely missed qualifying for the national championship round. Thomson will play in her fourth regional championship - she has played in the 2009 NCAA East Regional Championship, the 2010 NCAA Central Regional Championship and the 2011 East Regional Championship. Negron has played in the 2010 NCAA Central Regional Championship and the 2011 East Regional Championship - she qualified for the national championship as an individual in 2011.
