TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) - The Florida State women's golf team, which has earned eight top 10 team finishes, will play in the 2013 NCAA West Regional Championship marking the school-record eighth consecutive NCAA appearance for the Seminoles. The Seminoles will travel to the Stanford University Golf Course at Stanford (Calif.) University for the event which runs May 9-11, 2013.

The Seminoles are one of 72 teams that were selected to the NCAA Regional field with 24 teams competing at each of three sites. The Central Regional Championship will take place at the Jimmie Austin Golf Club at the University of Oklahoma and the East Regional Championship is at the Auburn University Club in Auburn, Ala. In addition to the 24 teams participating at each of the three regions, a total of six individuals have been selected to play at each site.

"We are very pleased to be going to Stanford for the NCAA West Regional Championship," said head coach Amy Bond. "The Stanford University Golf Course is a championship course and we are looking forward to some great competition. This is the time of year that we have been working towards and I am very confident in my team's ability to play well in the regional."

Florida State is one of six ACC teams in one of the three regional fields, joining ACC Champion Duke, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, Virginia and Wake Forest. A total of six of the nine ACC schools were selected for NCAA play this year.

Florida State finished in fourth place finish in the ACC Championship - the fifth time in the last seven seasons the Seminoles have finished fourth or better in the team standings at the conference championship in the toughest league for women's collegiate golf in the country.

The Seminoles finished in a team-best second place at the Florida Challenge in January and earned fourth place finishes at the Florida State Match-Up in February, fourth place at the Marsh Landing Invitational in April and closed out their regular season with its fourth place finish at the ACC Championships. The Seminoles have had three different players -- Laure Castelain, Jessica Negron and Olivia Hullert - lead the team in at least one event this year.

Negron will make a school record tying fourth consecutive NCAA regional championships appearance at Stanford. She finished in a career-best tied for third in the individual standings at the 2011 NCAA East Regional Championships and in a tie for 22nd in the 2010 NCAA Central Regional Championships.

"To have the opportunity to play in four consecutive regional championships during my career says a lot about our program, our coaches and my teammates during my career," said Negron. "Our administration sees to it that we have the best of everything - coaching, facilities and support - so we can concentrate on our academics and our play on the course. That support is the reason why we have been successful and why, under Coach Bond's leadership, that the sky is the limit for our program."

A total of 378 participants have been selected for regional competition. Of these players, 126 will advance to the championships finals. Eight teams and two highest finishing individuals not on one of those eight teams will advance to play in the NCAA Women's Golf Championship Finals.

The championship finals will be held the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga., May 21-14, 2013.

2013 NCAA East Regional Participants: Southern California, Arizona, Vanderbilt, Purdue, Stanford, Georgia, Baylor, Texas A&M, Louisiana State, Denver, South Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, UNLV, California, Florida State, Miami, San Jose State, Harvard, Kent State, Northern Arizona, North Dakota State, Long Island University
