TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) - The No. 25 ranked Florida State women's golf team will play in the 26th Annual ACC Championship tournament April 17-19, 2014 at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. Florida State enters the 2014 ACC Championship ranked 25th nationally by GolfStat - its highest ranking of the season. The Seminoles moved into the top 25 with its first team victory of the season - an incredible 24 stroke victory over the 19-team field at the Web.com/Marsh Landing Intercollegiate at Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. It marks the sixth consecutive year the event will be played at Sedgefield - the actual site of the formation of the ACC in 1953. Duke enters the event as the two-time defending champion as they won the event in 2012 and 2013.

THE 2014 ACC CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD
No. 25 Florida State is joined by No. 3 Duke, No. 12 Clemson, No. 19 Wake Forest, No. 21 North Carolina, No. 22 Virginia, Boston College, Maryland, Miami, NC State and Notre Dame in the 26th annual ACC Championship tournament. The Seminoles are playing in the event for the 24th time - they have finished in the top five in the team standings in the ACC championship during 22 of those 24 appearances. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played on the 6,210 yard, par 71 course at Sedgefield.

CASTREN LEADS ACC IN STROKE AVERAGE
Florida State University freshman Matilda Castren enters the ACC Championship as the ACC leader with a 71.608 stroke average in 23 rounds during eight tournaments. She is ahead of Duke's Yu Liu who averages 71.619 strokes in 21 rounds during seven tournaments.

FLORIDA STATE PLAYING FOR FIRST TEAM ACC CHAMPIONSHIP
Florida State, which has earned seven top five team finishes in its last eight appearances in the ACC Women's Golf Championship, finished in fourth place in the 2013 ACC Championship. Florida State enters the 2014 ACC Championship looking to win the first ACC women's golf championship in school history. The Seminoles have finished as high as second (1992, 1995 and 1999) and have earned four third place finishes since joining the nation's top conference for women's golf in 1992.

SEMINOLES LOOKING FOR FIRST ACC CHAMPION
Florida State has had one player finish in the top 10 of the individual standings in 12 of the last 13 and 19 of the last 21 ACC Championship tournaments, and is looking for a Seminole to take home the individual ACC Championship for the first time as Florida State begins play in the 2014 ACC Championships.

SEMINOLES TO HOST 2014 NCAA EAST REGIONAL
Florida State will play host to the NCAA East Regional Championship as part of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship May 8-10, 2014 at Southwood Golf Club in Tallahassee.

SEMINOLES WITH TWO FRESHMEN IN ACC LINE-UP
Florida State will play the 2014 ACC Championship with three juniors (Laure Castelain, Carlton Kuhlo and Alex Milan) and two freshmen (Matilda Castren and Lydia Gumm) in its starting line-up. Castelain (two ACC Championship appearances), Kuhlo (one ACC Championship appearance) and Milan (two ACC Championship appearances) have played their best golf of their careers this season while the Seminoles' freshman are ranked as the third best group of freshmen in the nation by Golfstat.

CASTREN PLAYS FOR THIRD WIN OF YEAR AT ACC'S
Seminole freshman Matilda Castren enters the 2014 ACC Championship tournament looking to win her third individual title of the year. She has earned victories at the Florida State Match-Up (206, -10) and at the Web.com/Marsh Landing Intercollegiate (school record 204, -12) this spring. Castren is looking to become the first player since Nadia Ste-Marie to win three individual championships in the same year. With a victory in the ACC Championships, she would become only the second player in school history with three or more wins in the same year.
