The Florida State women's golf team travels to Gainesville during spring break to play in the 41st Annual Lady Gator Invitational at the Mark Bostic Golf Course at the University of Florida March 15-17. The Seminoles have finished in the top five of their first two spring tournaments with a second place at the spring opening Florida Challenge and a fourth place finish at their home tournament - the inaugural Florida State Match-Up. Florida State finished in third place in the team standings at the Lady Gator Invitational in 2012 with senior All-American Maria Salinas earning medalist honors. The 2013 Lady Gator field includes 17 teams with seven ranked in the nation's top 25 by GolfStat.
THE 2013 LADY GATOR INVITATIONAL FIELD
Florida State is joined by No. 3 North Carolina, No.4 Alabama, No.5 Oklahoma, No.6 Florida, No. 18 Baylor, No. 19 Virginia, No. 21 Oklahoma State, Florida International, Kent State, Miami, Mississippi State, San Diego State, South Florida and UT Chattanooga in the 2013 Lady Gator Invitational. The event will be played at the par 70, 6,002 yard Mark Bostic Course at the University of Florida. The course was originally designed in the 1920's by renowned golf course architect Donald Ross and underwent a $4 million renovation in 2001. Florida won the team championship in 2012.
GREAT SUCCESS AT LADY GATOR INVITATIONAL Maria Salinas, who graduated with a degree in international affairs from Florida State in 2012, claimed the individual title while leading the Florida State to a third place finish in the team standings at the 2012 Lady Gator Invitational. Florida State has won the Lady Gator Invitational twice - 1980 and 1995. An individual Seminole, however, has finished in the top three of the individual standings in each of the last three seasons: current senior and team-captain Jessica in 2010 (tied for third, tie for her career best finish), Hannah Thompson won the individual title in 2011 and Maria Salinas repeated for the Seminoles in 2012.
NEGRON THE SEMINOLE LEADER AT FLORIDA STATE MATCH UP
Florida State was led by senior Jessica Negron, who finished in a tie for third place in the individual standings with an even par score of 216, at the inaugural Florida State Match-Up at SouthWood Golf Course in Tallahassee. She carded an even par score of 72 in the first round and a 2 under par score of 70 in the second round. With her tied for third place finish, she tied her career best finish and also earned her eighth top-10 career finish. The Seminoles finished in fourth place in the team standings, which marks their second top five finish of the spring season after finishing in a second place at the Florida Challenge to open the season. Georgia won the team championship.

...Five different Seminoles have either earned or tied their best finishes of their career: Mary Beth Ramsay, tied for 8th at the Florida Challenge; Jessica Negron, tied for third at the Florida State Match-Up (tied her career best, Alex Milan (tied for third at the Florida Challenge, Carlton Kuhlo, tied for 16 at the Florida Challenge) and Olivia Hullert (tied for fifth at the Florida Challenge).
