WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Florida State women's golf team is in third place and senior All-America candidate Kristin Tamulis is in a tie for third place after round one of the Landfall Tradition at the Pete Dye Course at the Landfall Golf Club. Florida State is only four strokes behind Arizona State and Wake Forest who are tied for the tam lead after the first round. Tamulis, who carded a one-over par 73, is only two stokes off the individual pace set by Nuria Clau of Wake Forest.

Tamulis (Naples, Fla.) continued her hot play of late as she carded her fourth consecutive score of 75 or better. She has now carded eight scores of 75 or better in 10 rounds and is averaging a team-low 74.70 strokes per round during the fall season.

Seminole freshman Caroline Larsson (Danderyd, Sweden) also continued her fine play this season as she finished as the second highest-ranking Seminole with a two-over par score of 74. The newcomer to the collegiate golf world has carded three scores of 74 in 10 rounds this fall. Larsson is in a tie for sixth place in the individual standings.

Juniors Alison Curdt (St. Louis, Mo.) and Carrie Sordel (Windermere, Fla.) also scored well for the Seminoles during the first round. Curdt carded a 77 and Sordel a 78 to help the Seminoles into their third place team standing. Junior Katie Quinney (Atlantic Beach, Fla.) is also competing for Florida State.

Clau of Wake Forest is in first place in the individual standings in leading the Demon Deacons to a share of the team lead after the first round. Arizona State, led by Sara Jones, has five players in the top 16 of the individual standings. Jones is currently in second place in the individual standings.

The second round of 18 holes begins Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. The final round of 18 holes for a total of 54 begins at 8 a.m. Sunday with a shotgun start.
