WILMINGTON, N.C. (Seminoles.com) - The second and third rounds of the 11th Annual Landfall Tradition were washed away by Hurricane Sandy with the scores reverting back to the only round that was completed on the first day of the event. For the Florida State women's golf team it meant a 14th place finish in the team standings in the final event of its 2012 fall schedule. Seminole freshman Olivia Hullert and sophomore Alex Milan earned the top individual scores of 76 and finished in a tie for 36th place in the individual standings. Oklahoma State, with two golfers in the top 15 of the individual standings, was awarded the team championship of the rain shortened event. The Cowgirls earned a one stroke win over Duke and a two stroke in over Purdue and Texas Tech. Kimberly Kaufman of Texas Tech won the individual championship with a first round score of 67. She earned a two stroke win over Kelsey Vines of Oklahoma State. The 90-player field attempted to play the second round in a driving rainstorm on Saturday. The field was able to complete between nine and 11 holes before the competition was halted because of the weather. The 17 teams attempted to finish the second round on Sunday after the event was shortened to 36 holes but the rain and wind forced the cancellation of the remainder of the event before the players even left the clubhouse. Florida State opens its spring schedule at the All-Florida Challenge at the Black Diamond Country Club on Lecanto, Fla., on Jan. 28, 2013. The Seminoles will play host to the jewel of their schedule - the Florida State Match-Up - at Southwood Golf Club Feb. 15-17, 2013. 11th Annual Landfall Tradition/Oct. 26-28, 2012/Par 72 Country Club of Landfall /Wilmington, N.C./Final FSU Results 14/17.
