HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Junior Kristin Tamulis finished and second place to lead the Florida State women's golf team to a third place finish at the Hatter Fall Classic at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort. The individual finish marked a career-best for Tamulis and the third place team finish was the Seminoles' best since the 2001 ACC Championships when the team also finished third. Competition in the 56-hole, three-round event concluded Sunday.

Tamulis (Naples, Fla.) played her best golf in the final round as she shot a two-over par 74. She improved her score throughout the tournament by two strokes each round after opening the event with a six-over par 78. Tamulis's score of 74 was the fourth time this fall she had shot 75 or below. With the four-tournament fall season now concluded, Tamulis averaged a team-leading 76.33 strokes in 12 rounds.

Sophomore Alison Curdt (St. Louis, Mo.) enjoyed her best round of the tournament as she carded a five over par 77 in the final round. She moved from a tie for 65th-place after the second round into a tie for 52nd-place in the final individual standings.

A pair of sophomores, Carrie Sordel and Katie Quinney, finished in the top 30 of the individual standings. Sordel (Windermere, Fla.) finished in a tie for 21st-place with a score of 238. Her best score came in round two when she totaled a two-over par 74. Quinney, who was in sixth place after round one, finished in a tie for 27-place. Freshman Tyler Johnson (Ponte Verde Beach, Fla.) finished in a tie for 54th-pace in the individual standings.

With its fall season now concluded, the Seminoles begin preparation for its seven-event spring season. They begin competition at the Lady Gator Invitational Feb. 22-24, 2002.
