Seminole sophomore Hannah Thomson is in a tie for 12th place in the individual standings with an even par 144 total and the No. 19 ranked Florida State women's golf team is in a tie for 10th place after two rounds of the Tar Heel Invitational at the Finlay Golf Course at the University of North Carolina.
No. 5 Michigan State maintained its spot on top of the team standings and increased its lead to 12 strokes over Alabama. The Spartans were five under par as a team in the second round and are the only team in the 18-team event to have finished with under par team scores during the first two rounds of the three team tournament. Sara Maude-Juneau of Louisville assumed the role of individual leader as she carded a four under par score of 68 and has a two round total of 138.
Thomson (Perth, Australia) remained the Seminoles' individual leader for the second consecutive round as she shot a two over par score of 74 during the second round. After carding a career-low tying 70 in the first round she has established a personal best total of 144 for 36 holes.
The Seminoles were led on the second day by senior Lacey Agnew (Jonesboro, Ga.) who carded an even par 72. She improved on her first round score by seven strokes and has a two day total of 151. Agnew began the day in a tie for 74th place and moved up 20 positions in the individual standings; she begins play in Sunday's third and final round in a tie for 54th place.
Junior Macarena Silva (Santiago, Chile) has a two over par total of 146 after carding a 71 in the first round and a 75 in the second round. She is in a tie for 18th place as she plays for her fourth top-20 finish of the 2009 fall season.
Florida State's freshmen - Jessica Negron and Mary Beth Ramsay - continued to play well in their first season as Seminoles. Negron (Ocala, Fla.) total a four-over par 76 in the second round and has a 151 total while Ramsay finished with a second round score of 77 and has a 155 total for the first two rounds. Negron is in a tie for 54th place while Ramsay is in a tie for 75th place.
The final round - s shotgun start - is set for Sunday morning. This is the final event of the fall season for the Seminoles who have earned three top two team finishes in their first three events of the season.
