NORMAN, Oklah (seminoles.com) - Freshman Matilda Castren shot a career low 69 and finished in a tie for eighth place in the individual standings and the Seminole women's golf team finished in eighth place in the team standings as play at the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club came to a close. In finishing in eighth place in the team standings, the Seminoles finished ahead of two top-25 ranked teams (No. 3 Pepperdine and No. 17 Georgia) and earned their third consecutive top 10 finish of the fall season.

No. 5 Oklahoma State rallied in the third round to win the team championship with a six stroke victory over No. 4 Oklahoma. The Lady Cowgirls rallied from third place heading into the final round and surpassed both Arizona State and LSU to claim the championship. Madelene Sagstrom of LSU carded a 66 in the final round and won the individual championship with a two stroke victory over Liz Breed of Kentucky. Breed carded a 64 in the third round to move into contention for medalist honors.

"We played a good round of golf today and had a good tournament," said head coach Amy Bond. "We hung in there under tough conditions and were able to hold our own against some really strong teams."

The Seminoles played their best team round of the fall season (a 4 over par 284 total) and counted four scores at 74 or better. The only score the Seminoles discounted was a 75.

"I am very proud of the girls," said Bond. "We need to concentrate on working to get better every week. Matilda had another great tournament; she was very consistent and improved each round."

Castren (Espoo, Finland) finished in a tie for eighth place in the individual standings as she carded her career best score of 69 in the third and final round. She finished the event with a career best 215 score for the 54 hole event - a score which included a team high 10 birdies. Castren carded four birdies in the third round. In addition to finishing with career best scores for a single round and a three-round tournament, Castren tied her career best with her individual finish; she also finished in a tie for eighth place in the Lady Paladin Invitational in September.

"I played well today," said Castren. I struggled with my putter on the front then birdied 9, 10 and 11; those birdies gave me a lot of confidence to go for the pin and make some more putts. Overall it was a good weekend and I'm happy with my finish in the strong field."

Castren finished the event extremely well as she was 4 under par over the course of her final 12 holes. After two bogeys on her first six holes that put her at 2 over par, Castren played her final 12 holes with 11 holes at par or better with four birdies. She was 1 over par on her front nine and 2 under par on her back nine.

It marked the third consecutive tournament during which Castren has finished as the Seminoles' overall leader. She led the Seminoles with a tied for 15th place finish at the Mo Morial Invitational and earned a tied for eighth place finish at the Lady Paladin Invitational.

Junior Alex Milan (Lutz, Fla.) carded a career low tying 70 in the third round and finished in a tie for 22nd place in the individual standings. She carded three scores of 75 or better during the event to earn the fourth top 25 finish of her career. Milan was very consistent in the third round 16 holes scored at par or better with two birdies. Milan earned a birdie on her second hole to move to 1 under par and with her strong play was never over par during the round.

In addition to tying her career best for a single round score (70) in the third round, Milan established a new career low for a 54 hole tournament score with a 220 total.

Freshman Anna Sophia Böhmer tied her career best with a 71 in the third round and finished in 54th place in the individual standings with a 229 total. Her 229 total is the second best of her three-tournament Florida State career. Junior Laure Castelain carded a 74 in the final round and finished in a tie for 32nd place in the individual standings.

Florida State closes out its fall season at the Alamo Invitational hosted by the University of Texas at San Antonio Oct. 27-29. The event will be played at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club.
