NORMAN, Oklah (seminoles.com) - Florida State University freshman Matilda Castren shot a 2-over par 72 and has moved into a tie for ninth place in the individual standings and the Seminole women's golf team is in a tie for sixth place in the team standings with one round remaining to be played in the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club. Castren enters the final round of the event looking to earn her second consecutive top 10 finish in only her third event as a Seminole.

LSU, which begin the day in third place in the team standings, is in first place in the team standings and playing for their first championship of the season. The Tigers are two strokes ahead of Arizona State and three strokes ahead of Arizona State. Caroline Nistrup of LSU is in first place in the individual standings; she holds a two stroke lead over Jayde Panos of Oklahoma State and teammate Madelene Sagstrom.

Florida State is ahead of a number of nationally ranked teams including No. 3 Pepperdine (tied for eighth) and No. 17 Georgia (15th place) and is tied with No. 23 Kent State (tied for sixth).

"We battled tough conditions again today and I was very proud of the girls for being mentally tough," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "Even though we didn't have our best day we are still in a good position to finish well tomorrow. In order to finish well we must be patient, make putts and stay in the moment."

Castren (Espoo, Finland) continued to play as Florida State's top golfer as she moved into the top 10 of the individual standings with a two round total of 146. She carded 14 holes at par or better with three birdies to finish with a score of 72 or better and with her second best single round score of the season. Castren carded a 70 on the second round of the Lady Paladin Invitational and has now carded each of her first eight collegiate rounds at 75 or better.

"I played solid golf today," said Castren. "I hit a lot of greens so that made scoring easier. The wind was blowing hard which made the course difficult to play."

Castren was never more than two strokes over par and was as many as one stroke under par after a birdie on hole No. 10. She birdied three of five holes midway through the round from holes No. 6 to No. 10. During that sequence of holes she improved from two strokes over par to one stroke under par.

"We have had many good moments as a team during the first two days but we have some work to do to finish this great event well," said Castren. "We will all just have to stay in the moment, be patient and good things will happen for our team."

Junior Laure Castelain (Bordeaux, France) is in a tie for 22nd place in the individual standings with a two-day total of 149. She carded a career-low tying 70 in the first round of the event and is looking to earn her best finish of the fall season; she is only one shot from moving into the top 20 of the individual standings. Castelain has earned six career top 20 finishes.

Junior Alex Milan (Lutz, Fla.) carded her second consecutive score of 75 and is in a tie for 27th place with a two-round total of 150. She began her round on hole No. 10 and played her front nine at even par with two birdies and five holes scored at par. Milan birdied her first hole of the day to move to 1 under par and totaled three birdies during the round.

Milan is averaging a career-best 75.50 strokes through her first eight rounds of the fall season. She carded her career best round of 71 in the second round of the Mo Morial Invitational and has carded five of her eight rounds with scores at 75 or better. Milan entered the 2013-14 season averaging 77.87 strokes per round during the first two seasons of her career and has cut more than two strokes off of her career average during her first eight rounds of the fall season.

Florida State will play with Oklahoma and Kentucky with tee times beginning at 9:10 a.m. CST in Monday's final round.

Following the conclusion of the Schooner Fall Classic, The Seminoles will close out their fall season at the Alamo Invitational at the University of Texas at San Antonio Oct. 27-29.
