Westrup Earns Top 15 Finish At Tar Heel Invitational

Florida State University All-American Caroline Westrup shot an even par 72 in the final round and finished in a tie for 13th place in the individual standings as play in the Lady Tar Heel Invitational at Finley Golf Course came to a close. Westrup finished in the top 15 of a tournament for the 23rd time in her Seminole career - she has now finished in the top 15 in 23 of her 31 career events.
Florida State counted the scores of Westrup (even par 72), freshman Whitney Wenglasz (79), senior Lauren Cousart (81) and freshman Hannah Thomson (83) in its final round of the three round tournament. Westrup, Cousart and Thomson had each of their three individual scores counted in all three of the rounds played in the three-day, 54-hole event.
Wake Forest won the tournament title as it led the event wire-to-wire. The Deacons were tied for the lead after the first round and took over sole possession through the second and third rounds. Wake Forest beat host and runner-up North Carolina by 12 strokes. Three players - Jean Chua and Natalie Sheary of Wake Forest and Catherine O'Donnell of North Carolina finished tied for the individual lead at 54 holes with identical even-par scores of 216.
Westrup (Ahus, Sweden) led the Seminoles as she finished the event with an even par score of 72. She was even or below par throughout the round with two birdies, 14 holes at par and two bogeys. She finished the round with 10 consecutive even par holes to finish at even par. Westrup counted all three of her scores in this event; she has now counted 85.5 of 86 rounds (.994) during her career as a Seminole.
Wenglasz (Oldsmar, Fla.) played her best round of the tournament as she carded a final round score of 79. She played well over her first nine holes and was one over par when she made her turn for her final nine holes. Wenglasz was playing in her first tournament as a Seminole.
Florida State closes out its fall season at the Auburn Tiger Derby Invitational Oct. 24-26 at Auburn University.
