MACON, Ga. - Florida State senior Lacey Agnew and freshman Jessica Negron are both tied for second in the individual standings and the No. 9 ranked Florida State women's golf team is in first place after the first round of the Eat A Peach Collegiate women's golf tournament at the Idle Hour Golf Club. Agnew and Negron are only one stroke out of the individual lead while the Seminoles lead Coastal Carolina by nine strokes and No. 6 ranked Georgia by 10 strokes in the battle for the team championship.

The Seminoles, who are ranked No. 6 in this week's GolfStat Power Rankings, are looking to continue one of the hottest starts to a season in program history. The Seminoles won the team championship at last weekend's University of Kentucky Fall Invitational and placed second at the fall season-opening Cougar Classic. A victory in this two-day, 36-hole event would give the Seminoles two team championships in the same year for the first time since the 2006-07 season when they won the fall 2006 Cougar Invitational and the spring 2007 Chrysler Challenge hosted by Florida State.

"The players are simply taking care of their business right now," said head coach Debbie Dillman. "We are working hard on `the process' and staying in the moment. We had a few little hiccups today but at one point or another during the round, every player was under par. This was a good learning day and hopefully we can carry those lessons learned with us tomorrow."

Agnew (Jonesboro, Ga.) continued to play the best golf of her career as she carded a one under par 71. She has now carded four of her first six rounds of the fall at par or better and is averaging 71.00 strokes per round. Agnew began her day well with an eagle three on the par five third and a birdie on the par five fourth hole to move quickly to three under par. She played very consistently for the remainder of the round with two birdies and eight holes of par.

Negron (Ocala, Fla.) continued to play well in her first semester as a member of the Seminole women's golf team as she, too, carded a one-under par 71. She played her best golf early and late as she birdied two of the first four holes and two of the last six holes. Coupled with only three bogeys, Negron completed the second sub-par round of the first three events of her career.

Sophomore Hannah Thomson (Perth, Australia) also continued to play well as she carded a one-over par 73. She was one under par through the first 16 holes with three birdies and 11 holes at par before suffering a double-bogey seven on the par five 17 holes. Thomson collected herself and carded a birdie on her final hole to finish at one over par. She was three under par with three birdies on holes four through 16. Thomson is tied for seventh place with teammate Macarena Silva.

Silva (Santiago, Chile) finished with a one-over par 73 while freshman Mary Beth Ramsay (Orlando, Fla.) finished with a 77.

Seminole head coach Debbie has pledged $5 per birdie made by each of her players during their month of October. The Seminoles carded 12 birdies in the first round and hope to ad to their total in the second and final round of the Eat A Peach Collegiate and during the three round Lady Tar Heel Invitational next weekend.
