HANAHAN, S.C. - Senior Lacey Agnew is in first place in the individual standings after she tied the school record with a career-low score of 65 in the second round and the Seminole women's golf team is in a tie for second place after the first two rounds the Cougar Fall Classic at Yeamans Hall Golf Course. Agnew begins play in the second and final round of the event two strokes ahead of Georgia's Marta Silva Zamora in the race for the first individual championship of her career while Florida State is 12 strokes behind Georgia in the race for the team championship.

The event is the first of the fall season for the Seminoles.

Georgia, with three players in the top 10 and four in the top 12 of the individual standings, is in first place in the individual standings. The Bulldogs came within one stroke of setting a tournament record for a single round with a team total of 280 in the first round. The Seminoles are tied for second with Furman in the team standings.

"The team shoed such great maturity and composure during the first two rounds," said head coach Debbie Dillman. "They made it look easy - something truly great teams do. We are really looking forward to playing tomorrow."

Agnew (Jonesboro, Ga.) established her career low score and set a new tournament record with a seven-under par score of 65 in the second round. Her score not only established a new tournament record but tied Florida State's all-time career low score shot by Seminole All-American Kris Tamulis during the third round of the 2003 ACC Championship on April 20, 2003.

Agnew shot a one-under par 71 in the first round and a seven-under par 65 in the second for an eight-under par total of 136. She established personal career bests for single round score and 36-hole total as he looks best finish of her career when play in the final round begins Monday. Agnew finished in sixth place at the spring 2007 Chrysler Challenge hosted by Florida State.

Agnew vaulted to the top of the leader board with her score of 65 in the second round. Starting on the seventh hole, she was even par on the first seven holes before going on a torrid run to close out the round. She carded five birdies and the first eagle of her collegiate career on hole 14 through hole two. Agnew carded an eagle three on the par five 18th hole and was as many as seven strokes under par for the round. She played magnificently during the seven hole stretch with she carded one eagle, five birdies and one par in taking command of the individual standings.

"Lacey took advantage of all of her strengths," said Dillman. "She has practiced really well and we hope this is a sign of things to come during her senior season."

Junior Macarena Silva (Santiago, Chile) is one of three Seminoles in the top 25 of the individual standings. She is in a tie for 17th place with a 36-hole total of 145. She is closely followed by sophomore Hannah Thomson (Perth, Australia), who is in a tie for 25th place with a two round total of 147.

A pair of Seminole freshmen - Mary Beth Ramsay and Jessica Negron - is playing in their first collegiate event. Ramsay is in a tie for 25th place while Negron is tied for 45th place.
