BRYAN, Texas (seminoles.com) - Freshman Matilda Castren shot a career-low 73 and finished in a tie for 15th place in the individual standings to lead the Florida State women's golf team to a sixth place finish in the team standings in the fall season opening Mo Morial Invitational at the Traditions Course at Texas A&M University. Florida State played its best round of the tournament and had three of its five golfers finish with scores at 73 or below.

Kentucky, which took over the team lead in the second round, won the team championship going away and earned an 11 stroke victory over No. 16 ranked Virginia. The Wildcats' third round score of 286 was the best of the tournament of the 12 teams in the event. After a bogey on her first hole of the round, she played her final 17 holes at even par with one birdie and one bogey. Castren played her final 23 holes of the tournament at 1-under par with three birdies.

Castren finished as Florida State's leader in the final individual standings marking the fourth time in the last two seasons that a freshman had led the Seminoles in a tournament. Junior Alex Milan (Lutz, Fla.) finished in a tie for 17th place in the individual standings with a career best 223 tournament score. She carded three birdies, 12 holes at par and was never more than three strokes over par during the third and final round. Milan carded a career best single round score of 71 in the second round and finished the tournament with six birdies.

Freshman Lydia Gumm (Radcliff, Ky.) played her best golf of the tournament as she carded a 3- over par 74 in the final round. She improved her score by three strokes after finishing with scores of 77 in the first and second rounds of her first career collegiate tournament. Gumm finished the event well as she was even par with one birdie and eight holes scored at par over her final 10 holes of the tournament.

Anna Sophia Böhmer (Cali, Colombia) and Laure Castelain (Bordeaux, France) finished the event with identical scores of 76. Böhmer finished in a tie for 31st place with a three round total of 230 while Castelain finished in a tie for 37th place with a three round total of 231.
