Laure Castelain is in a tie for 12th place after two rounds of the Marsh Landing Invitational.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (seminoles.com) - Florida State's Laure Castelain and Jessica Negron are tied for 12th in the individual standings and the Seminole women's golf team is in sixth place in the team standings after the first two rounds of the Marsh Landing Invitational at the Marsh Landing Golf Course. The Seminoles were tied for fourth in the team standings after the first of two rounds played today and begin play in the final round on Tuesday morning only two strokes out of fifth place and only five strokes out of fourth place.

No. 14 ranked Purdue, the highest ranked team in the 20-team field, is in first place in the team standings and begins play in the final round five strokes ahead of No. 28 ranked Iowa State. The Boilermakers have two players (Paula Reto and Laura Gonzalez) within three stokes of the individual leader - Gabriella Dominguez of Texas Tech. Dominiguez has a two round total of 139 with scores of 69 and 70 and was the only player in the 104 player field who carded two scores at under par on the day.

Castelain (Bordeaux, France) and Negron (Ocala, Fla.) are in a tie for 12th place in the individual standings with identical scores of 1 over par 145. Castelain carded scores of 74 and 71 while Negron finished with scores of 70 and 75.

Castelain played her best golf of the day with her 1 under par score of 71 in the second round. She was never above par during the round as she began her second set of 18 at par-birdie to quickly go under par. Castelain totaled 17 holes at par or better with two birdies, 15 holes at par or better and only one hole scored above par (a bogey on the par four hole No. 15).

Castelain's score of 71 in the second round is her best of her sophomore season and her best since carding a 71 in the second round of the Lady Gator Invitational during the spring of 2012. She came within one stroke of tying her career best score for a single round - a 70 which came in the second round of the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic during the fall of 2011 - her second collegiate round in her first career tournament.

Negron finished the first round with a 2 under par score of 70 and was in a tie for third place in the individual standings after 18 holes. She carded four birdies and only two holes over par in the first round as compared to two birdies and four holes over par in the second round. Negron played well late in the second round as she was 1 under par during her final nine holes of the round.

With her two scores at 75 or better in the first two rounds of the event, Negron has carded 13 of her last 14 rounds at 75 or better with six of those rounds coming at par or better. She begins play in the final round looking to earn her 11th career top 10 finish with three of those top 10 finishes coming in her last three events.

One of the Seminoles' top performances of the day came from senior Mary Beth Ramaay (Orlando, Fla.) who carded a 1 over par score of 73 in the first round. Her score of 73 (which included one birdie and 16 holes scores at par or better) marked the third time this spring she has carded a single round score of 73 or better with her score of 72 in the first round of the Florida Challenge on January 28, 2013 ranking as the best single round score of her career.

"We finished well and that was the thing I was most proud of today," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "We had some good individual performances in both rounds; we all need to be more consistent in the final round on Tuesday. A good finish in this event is right there in front of us to seize - we just have to play well throughout the round as well as we finished today. I am confident in our girls and looking forward to tomorrow."

The final round of the event - another shotgun start - begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
