Florida State University freshman Whitney Wenglasz is in a tie for first place in the individual standings and the Seminole women's golf team is in seventh place after the first two rounds of the Lady Gator Invitational at the University of Florida Golf Course. Wenglasz, who is playing in only her sixth career collegiate tournament, carded an even par 70 in the second round to move into a tie for the individual lead with a two-round total of 144. Her score of 70 in the second round was the best of the 84 competitors in the event.
Duke, with two players in the top five of the individual standings, and Alabama, with two players in the top 10 of the individual standings, are tied for the team lead with 36 hole totals of 603. Florida State's Wenglasz is tied for first in the individual standings with Kathleen Ekey of Alabama.
Wenglasz played her best golf late in the second round as she was two-under par over her final six holes of the round. She was plus two over her first nine holes and minus two with three birdies over her last nine holes. Wenglasz was never more than three strokes over par and was even for the final three holes of her round.
Sophomore Macarena Silva is in a tie for 22nd place with a two round total of 154. She carded a five-over par 75 in her second round. Junior Lacey Agnew carded a three-over par 73 in the second round and is tied for 40th in the individual standings with a total of 157.
Florida State is playing without three-time All-American Caroline Westrup who is missing her second consecutive tournament because of an illness. She is expected to play in next weeks ACC Championship.
