ATHENS, Ga. - Florida State University sophomore Macarena Silva finished in a tie for fifth place to earn the best finish of her career and the Seminole women's golf team finished in a tie for 12th place in the rain shortened Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the University of Georgia Golf Course. The first two rounds of the event were cancelled because of rain making this the shortest tournament in the 37-year history of the event.

Auburn, which placed three players in the top five of the individual standings, earned the team title with a three stroke win over Kent State and Alabama. Kathleen Ekey of Alabama won the individual title with a three-under par score of 69. She defeated Kirby Dreher of Kent State by one stroke to claim medalist honors.

Silva was at or below par on 14 of her 18 holes and was even par over her final 15 holes of the afternoon. After birdying her first hole she double-bogeyed her second hole and bogeyed her third hole to move to two over par. Silva carded two birdies, two bogeys and 11 holes of par to close out the round. She was two under par over her final nine holes.

Silva's tie for fifth place finish bettered her tie for ninth place finish at the 2008 ACC Championship by four places and marked her first career top five finish.

Junior Lacey Agnew played her best golf in her home state of Georgia as he carded a 76 and finished in a tie for 19th place. Her top-20 finish was the second of her career and first since finishing in a tie for sixth place in the spring 2007 Chrysler Challenge. Agnew carded two birdies and a total of 11 holes of par or better in finishing at four over par.

Florida State played without All-American Caroline Westrup who missed the event because of an illness. It was the first match she has missed during her four-year Seminole career.

The Seminoles will close out their regular season as they travel to play at the Lady Gator Invitational April 6-7 in Gainesville, Fla.
