March 22, 1998 COLUMBIA, SC -- The Florida State women's golf team finished in 11th place at the Lady Gamecock Classic at the University Club Golf Course in Columbia, SC. The Lady Seminoles finished with a team score of 965, five strokes back of Mississippi State University. Amy Bond led all Tribe golfers with a three-day total of 239. Bond, a native of Ocala, FL, finished tied for 27th with Anna Umemura of Tennessee. Louise Wright ended the tournament tied for 33rd with several golfers at 242. Sarah Capie remained steady with rounds of 81, 82 and 81 to finish tied for 45th at 244, while teammate Amy Spooner finished with the same score. Aguri Okura rounded out the scoring for the Lady Seminoles with a three-day total of 245 and tied for 49th. Duke University captured the team title behind the play of medalist Jenny Chuasiriporn. Chuasiriporn blew away the competition, winning by 11 strokes. |
