Senior All-American Caroline Westrup finished as Florida State's top golfer in the individual standings and the Seminoles finished in 16th place in the team standings as play in the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational at the University of Texas Golf Course game to a close on Sunday. Westrup has finished as the Seminoles leader in each of their three events this spring.
Purdue defeated Arizona State by six strokes in the final round to win the team championship. Maria Hernandez of Purdue claimed the individual title as she outdistanced Lucy Nunn of Arkansas by three strokes.
Westrup carded a 76 in the final round to finish with a 227 total and in a tie for 29th place in the individual standings. She finished with scores of 77-74-76. Westrup eagled the par five fifth hole and finished with 12 holes with scores a par or better on the afternoon. She played 40 of her 54 holes at par or better over the three days of the event.
Sophomore Macarena Silva led the Seminoles through the final round with a two over par score of 74. She finished in 35th place with a three round total of 228 - only one stroke behind Westrup in the individual standings. Silva led the Seminoles with a 75 in the first round and a 74 in the third round.
Junior Lacey Agnew (76) and freshman Whitney Wenglasz (77) played their best rounds of the tournament over the final 18 holes.
The Seminoles will compete next at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the University of Georgia March 27-29.
