BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. - Sophomore Jaclyn Burch earned her second career top-15 finish and the Seminole women's golf team finished in a tie for seventh place at the Lady Gamecock Classic at the University Club. Burch led the Seminoles with a six-over par 78 in Sunday's third round and finished with a 54-hole total of 238 to lead Florida State to its' first top-10 team finish of the spring season.

New Mexico, the No. 13 ranked team in the nation and the highest ranked team playing in the 12-team field, earned the victory as it led the field wire-to-wire. The Lobos had three players - Kailin Downs (second place), Christina Spence (sixth) and Alexandra Phillips (tenth) - finish in the top 10 of the individual standings. Jenny Suh of Furman won the individual title with a three-day total of 275. She recovered from one stroke down entering the final round to win the championship by three strokes. Furman finished second in the team standings.

Burch (Wildwood, Mo.) was the most consistent of the six Seminoles competing in the event and finished in a tie for 14th place with a 54-hole total of 238. She carded a 76 in the second round and finished the event with a 78 in the third round. Burch also finished in a tied for 15th place at the Florida State hosted ACC/SEC Challenge during the fall of 2004.

Freshman Whitney Brummett (Eureka, Mo.) finished in 24th place with a three-day total of 240. She carded scores of 80 in all three rounds the event. Brummett has now earned four top-25 individual finishes in six events during her first collegiate season. She finished in a tie for 21st place at last week's Lady Gator Invitational.

Freshman Whitney Wright (Rockingham, N.C.) earned the second best finish of her career as she finished in 44th place. She carded an 81 in the second round and an 83 in the final round. Wright's best career finish came at the fall 2004 Tar Heel Invitational when she finished in a tie for 40th place.

Florida State continues its spring season at the Liz Murphey Intercollegiate at the University of Georgia March 25-27.
