Sitting Down With The Women's Golf Team

The women's golf team took some time off for the holiday season.

On Ramsay: One of three seniors on the team who will look to lead Florida State to its eighth consecutive NCAA Championships appearance in 2013...has achieved at an extremely high level both academically and athletically during her Florida State career...has contributed to the Seminoles throughout her career both in the classroom and on the golf course...enjoyed her best individual tournament at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge during the spring of 2011...earned personal bests for single round score (73) and individual finish (tied for 19th)...has a great attitude and an undeniable work ethic...Has helped the Seminole women's golf team earn three consecutive Director's Cups for Service because of her extremely giving spirit...averages 79.55 stroke per round in 22 rounds during eight tournaments in the first three seasons of her career...

Fall 2009: A member of the Seminoles' starting line-up in all four fall events...helped the Seminoles earn one team title (University of Kentucky Invitational) and two second place finishes (Cougar Classic and East A Peach Collegiate)...was at her best in the Cougar Classic - the first event of her career...finished with career best scores for a single round (73 in the second round), 36 holes (147) and for a three-round tournament (227)...finished in a career-best tied for 21st place in helping the Seminoles to a second place finish at the Eat A Peach Collegiate...had nearly 50 percent of her scores (six of 13) counted toward the team score with at least one counted in each of the five events she played in...averaged a career best 77.40 strokes in 10 rounds during four tournaments.

Spring 2010: Played in one event and had two of her three scores counted toward the team score at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge...two scores of 78 as the Seminoles earned a top 10 team finish in the team standings...averaged 80.00 strokes in three rounds during one tournament.

Fall 2010: Played in one event during the fall season at the Landfall Tradition...improved her score in each of the final two rounds of the event...averaged 83.67 strokes in three rounds during one tournament.

Spring 2011: Played in two events - the Kinderlou Forest Challenge as an individual and the Bryan National Collegiate as a member of the Seminoles' starting line-up...enjoyed the best tournament of her career at Kinderlou as she established career bests for single round score (73) and overall finish (tied for 19th)...a member of the Seminoles' starting line-up in the prestigious Bryan National Collegiate and helped the Seminoles to a seventh place finish in the event...averaged 80.83 strokes in six rounds during two tournaments.

Fall 2011: A member of the team but did not play in any events.

Spring 2012: A member of the team but did not play in any events.

Before Florida State: Graduated from Lake Highland Prep in 2009....attended the First Academy (seventh grade - 10th grade) and Lake Highland (10th-12th)...was a member of the varsity girls' golf team beginning in the seventh grade and earned six varsity letters...led the First Academy to one district championship and Lake Highland to three district championships...the team qualified for the state championship during five of her six seasons as a prep star...led Lake Highland to the regional championship as a junior and to a second place finish as a senior...with Ramsay on the team, The First Academy never finished below second in the regional championship tournament...named the Most Valuable Player at Lake Highland as a junior in 2007...earned the lowest scoring average on the team during each of her four seasons on the varsity...averaged 37.5 strokes per round during her senior season...finished in a tie for first place in the regional championship as a senior with a score of 73 and was third in the district championship as a senior with a score of 75...earned medalist honors in the district championship as a junior...career best low score as a prep star was a 67...participated in the 2008 Premier Junior Tour and earned a first place finish at Hunters Creek Golf Club and a tied for second placing at the Southern Dunes Golf Club...won the women's club championship at the Orange Tree Country Club in 2009.

Personal: Born April 15, 1991...Mary Beth is the daughter of Debbie and Gary Ramsay...inducted into the National Honor Society...also inducted into the Spanish National Honor Society...was editor-in chief of her high school newspaper...aspires to work in the newspaper or magazine industry...a member of the Young Republicans and Culinary Club...named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll in 2010...chose Florida State over Ole Miss, Auburn and Alabama...major is communications.
