Personal: Born January 18, 1995...Matilda is the daughter of Anne and Petri Castren...was born in New York City...also lived in Connecticut and Dallas, Texas for two years before she moved back to Finland with her family...her father was employed by a Finnish bank while working in the United States...her mom is a school teacher and her dad is a businessman in Finland...introduced to the game by her parents and played in her first competitive tournament at age 10...during her free time she enjoys listening to music, shopping and spending time with friends...chose Florida State over Oregon, South Carolina and Louisiana State...major is sport management.
On The Golf Course With Matilda Castren: I don't have any "heroes" but I admire Michelle Wie and Minea Blomqvist, a top Finnish golfer.: My favorite golf movie is Happy Gilmore.: My favorite golf course is in Paris, France and is called Le National Golf Club.: My next hole in one will be my first hole in one. : My favorite thing about golf is that you can never be good enough; you can practice in so many ways, hit different shots and play different courses. The sport of golf never gets boring.: I played a variety of sports when I was younger, including tennis, badminton, horseback riding and swimming but I was always the best at golf. My favorite thing to do in the FSU golf can while travelling to play in a tournament is listening to music and watching movies.: I have received a lot of advice. Among the best are: Not to pay attention to your scores while you're on the course because your score doesn't matter at that moment; Always try your best and if that isn't enough there's nothing else you can do; Everyone will always make mistakes in every single round; When you don't put pressure or expectations on yourself you can execute your best shots so free your mind and enjoy the moment of playing.
