Notes on the Florida State Women's Golf

Amy Bond enters the ACC Championships as the top player for the Lady Seminoles. She has placed in the top 15 six times this year. Her highest finish was in the Lady Seminole Invitational, when she placed third in a very difficult field. She entered the season with hopes of being an All-American, but will probably be a Preseason All-American entering next year.

The Lady Seminoles have used the same line-up for most of the fall and spring season. Amy Bond, Aguri Okura, Amy Spooner, Erica Iding and Sarah Capie have played a majority of the rounds for the Lady Seminoles. Iding didn't participate in the Beacon Woods Invitational due to illness. The same line-up will be used this weekend at the ACC Championships.

Aguri Okura had her highest finish of the year for a Lady Seminole, losing in the first playoff hole of the Ryder Florida Women's Golf Collegiate Championships to Riko Higashio of Florida. It was the highest finish of her career, surpassing the tied for 6th place finish earlier in the year at the Auburn Tiger Invitational.

The Ryder State Championship also marked the highest finish for the Lady Seminoles since a second place finish in the Lady Seminole Invitational in the fall of 1995. The Lady Seminoles lost to the Florida Gators by one stroke two weeks ago.

Amy Spooner was not allowed to work on her game during the month of January and early in February. She was involved in a car accident that prevented her from participating in off-season conditioning. She didn't miss a tournament because the Lady Seminoles didn't start the spring season until the first week in March.

The Lady Seminoles have recorded four top 5 finishes this year. The Lady Seminoles finished fourth in the Auburn Tiger Invitational and fifth in the Beacon Woods Invitational along with the finishes in the Lady Seminole Invite and the Ryder Florida Championships.

The Lady Seminoles are currently ranked #32 in the Rolex Collegiate Rankings that came out early last week. Amy Bond is also currently ranked #97 in the individual rankings.
