TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The undefeated Florida State women's basketball team nabbed a No. 24 ranking in the weekly Associated Press Top 25 Poll on Monday.
The Seminoles are off to their third 7-0 start in program history and are beating opponents by an average margin of 25.9 points.
Last week, Florida State defeated Iowa, 83-69, in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Wednesday in Tallahassee before taking down Charlotte, 70-54, on the road on Sunday.
Florida State faces arguably its biggest test of the season in its next game. The Seminoles travel to Lincoln, Neb. to battle No. 25 Nebraska on Saturday.
A balanced and efficient scoring attack has led the way for head coach Sue Semrau's squad this season. The Noles rank No. 2 in the country in three-point percentage (.462) and No. 6 in field goal percentage (.497), while dishing 18.3 assists per game (12th in the nation).
Five Seminoles are scoring in double figures led by senior guard Leonor Rodriguez at (15.9 ppg). Rodriguez and junior forward Natasha Howard (15.3 ppg) have already earned ACC Player of the Week honors this season. Senior guard Alexa Deluzio (13.9 ppg) and senior forwards Chelsea Davis (13.1) and Chasity Clayton (13.0) are also scoring at least 10 points per contest, while the dynamic point guard duo of junior Yashira "Cheetah" Delgado (6.4 apg) and senior Morgan Toles (5.6 apg) ranks 2-3 in the conference in helpers.
Florida State's ranking this week marks the 58th week the Seminoles have appeared in the AP Poll under Semrau.
