Harvin Named ACC Rookie Of The Week

Nov. 27, 2006

Florida State's Alysha Harvin has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, league officials announced Monday. Harvin had an impressive rookie performance against rival Florida on Friday, leading the Seminoles to their largest margin of victory over the Gators in over 20 years.

In her first game against rival Florida, Harvin scored nine points in just 12 minutes of play and added two rebounds and two assists. She shot 60 percent from the field and was perfect from the free throw line. In addition, the Dania Beach, Fla., native was 1-for-2 from long range. On the season, Harvin has played in all five games and is averaging 13.8 minutes per game and 4.2 points per game.

Harvin is the second FSU rookie to receive league honors this season. Teammate Jacinta Monroe was pegged the season's first ACC Rookie of the Week on November 13th.

FSU will host Tulsa tonight at 7 p.m. ET at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
