"In order to do that, you have to go out and beat folks and we've been able to do that the last couple of years and so we're really excited about the level this rivalry has reached. Anybody can win this game. I'm just excited about the big weekend we have coming up." FSU's 4-0 start this season marks just the second time in Semrau's 10 years that the Seminoles have won their first four games of the season and just the fourth time in the program's history. Semrau is pleased with the team's progress so far. "We had hoped to be 4-0, but with a young team, it was hard to tell how we were going to handle the challenge of being on the road, having so many games in a week's period of time," Semrau said. "I am pleased with that and very excited though, that we've had three days of practice now. We hadn't had practice, just a lot of game prep, and we need to get better in a lot of areas." The Seminoles are scoring more than 20 points than their opponents and have a +16 rebounding advantage. Led by Britany Miller's 10 blocks, the Seminoles have recorded 22 blocks to their opponent's eight. "Defensively, we have to become more of a unit," Semrau said. "It's true of every team in the country right now if you watch the basketball games that are happening. People can score, but it's really getting your defensive identity that takes time." In FSU's four games this season, a different Seminole has led the team in scoring in three contests. Britany Miller led the way in the first two games while Tanae Davis-Cain and Alicia Gladden followed with career performances in the last two games. "That's what we expected from this team, because we have a lot of offensive talent," Semrau said. "The thing that I've been pleased with is how certain players have stepped up on both ends of the floor. Every time someone's had a good offensive game, they've been stellar on the defensive end of the floor as well and that's so important." |
