TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) - Florida State women's basketball assistant coaches Lance White and Angie Johnson were both honored by CollegeInsider.com on Monday, as the web site released its Top 25 High-Major Women's Basketball Assistant Coaches List.
White, who is entering his ninth season on head coach Sue Semrau's Garnet and Gold staff, was rated the nation's No. 17 assistant coach by CollegeInsider.com's Jason Belzer, while Johnson, beginning her 15th season at Florida State, was one of five coaches to earn honorable mention accolades.
White has spearheaded Florida State's defense in recent years, but will take over the offensive game plan in 2011-12. He came to Florida State in 2003-04 after 10 seasons at Texas Tech.
Johnson, FSU's recruiting coordinator and longest-tenured assistant, started at Florida State in 1997-98 after three seasons as an assistant coach at Wisconsin. She was part of Semrau's first Seminoles' staff.
The duo is part of an FSU coaching staff that has delivered Florida State to seven straight NCAA Tournaments and nine consecutive postseasons as well as ACC co-regular season championships in two of the last three years.
The Noles were one of only six teams that had multiple assistants on the list, joining Tennessee, Maryland, Texas A&M, Notre Dame and Iowa State.
