After four days in Senegal, the Seminoles have spent the past two days in Italy. It has been a whirlwind trip, as the FSU squad took an overnight flight from Dakar, Senegal to Paris early Sunday morning before connecting to Florence, Italy and arriving a little after 10 a.m. in time to tour the statue of David and other incredible artwork and architecture at the Galleria dell' Accademia. On Monday, the Seminoles visited the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. In between, the team has had some incredible authentic Italian lunches and dinners in the Tuscany region. Florida State plays a team of Italian professional all-stars on Tuesday. Redshirt sophomore guard/forward Morgan Jones shared her thoughts with Seminoles.com about FSU's first two days in Italy.

It was long trip from Africa to Italy, but it wasn't bad. We flew Air France, and it was really nice. The airplane was huge. There were tons of movies, but I pretty much slept the whole way. We flew into Paris, and then from Paris we flew to Florence. Once we arrived in Florence, which is beautiful by the way, we went directly to the hotel and dropped stuff off. Not all of our rooms were ready so we went and got lunch.

We went ahead two more hours. Now we are ahead six hours from the U.S. It's tiring, but we are having a blast and we are getting used to it.

On Sunday, we went and saw the statue of David, done by Michelangelo. It was awesome. We've all read about it and seen it online, but to see it up close was really cool. We had a great guide that explained to us what everything was and why it was famous. I was surprised with how big it was (15 meters). It was incredible how detailed it was - there were veins in the arms and the detail of the hands. I was really impressed because he made it out of marble. Unfortunately, we couldn't take photos in the museum.

The Cathedral in the Florence square was really amazing. It was beautiful - green and white, and it looked like a postcard. We went to dinner at a local Italian place. I got lasagna. The portions are really small here. The waiter told us to slow down that Americans eat too fast. I had another plate. It was a meat and noodle dish.

Afterwards, Gabby (Bevillard), Ivey (Slaughter) and I went and got some gelato. We actually ran into some Senegalese guys at the market. We showed them photos of our time there last week and they gave us a good deal on a purse.

Today, we went to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. We saw the church, the baptistery, the tower, the graveyard and the former hospital. That was cool. They called it the "circle of life." They said only "VIPs" could be buried in the graveyard and they had to be born in Pisa. Then we walked to the top of the Leaning Tower. Leo (Rodriguez) counted 294 steps. When you were walking you could feel yourself leaning to the left. It leans 13 feet because the soil underneath is not even.

Afterwards, we walked around and shopped. I got a leather bag and a purse for my sister. We went and ate at a vineyard in a tiny Tuskany town, called Fattoria Il Poggio. It was really good. They brought out a variety of different things - pasta, salami, cheese, bruschetta and many others. The tiramisu was awesome. Then we had a tour of the vineyard. Marco, our guide, told us how they actually make olive oil and wine.

Tomorrow we play another game against an Italian team. I'm excited to play against a different style. This trip has been a blast!
