Seminoles Ranked No. 19 In Final USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll

April 5, 2007

The Florida State women's basketball team finished the 2006-07 season 24-10 and advanced to the program's first Sweet Sixteen and the Seminoles now add yet another "first" to their resume. Florida State was listed No. 19 in the final USA Today/ESPN women's basketball coaches' poll, marking the program's highest national finish.

In the 2000-01 season, Florida State finished the season at No. 25, the first-ever final national ranking for the Seminoles following the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1990-91.

The No. 19 ranking also matches FSU's highest-ever national ranking. The Seminoles were ranked No. 19 in the Coaches' Poll back on January 25, 2005 and reached that mark back on March 6, 1983 in the AP Poll.

Head Coach Sue Semrau has led Florida State to 20 or more wins in three straight seasons which is also a program first. The current three-year span is FSU's most successful and when the Seminoles advanced to the NCAA Tournament this season, it was also a program-first third straight time. Since 1973-74 when season records were kept, FSU has recorded seven 20-win seasons and with three times, only Semrau has led a team to this accomplishment more than twice.

Florida State is one of five ACC teams among the nation's final Top 25.
