Thomas is slated to begin her career with the Seminoles in the 2014-15 season, ranking as the No. 12 player in the 2014 HoopGurlz recruiting rankings as well as the No. 3-rated wing player. Earlier in her senior season at Sylacauga High School, Thomas joined select company in the state of Alabama when she crossed the 4,000-point mark in her career. She is just the sixth player in AHSAA history to reach that mark, and only the third with 2,000 rebounds.
The athletic performer with incredible leaping ability is now on a mission to lead her high school to a state championship. In Thursday's AHSAA 5A State Semifinal game against Brewer, Thomas guided her team to a 19-point comeback and poured in 40 points to reach the state championship. Thomas' 40 points were one point shy of the state tournament record of 41 recorded in 2006.
The Class 5A state championship between Sylacauga and No. 1 Wenonah will take place on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Thomas is one of 30 players recognized nationwide by the WBCA. Ten high school players were named to the WBCA High School All-America Team, while 20 more were recognized on the honorable mention All-America squad.
Nearly one month ago, Thomas was named a McDonald's All-American and became the fourth to sign with FSU directly out of high school. She will play in the renowned game featuring the best prep athletes in the nation on Wednesday, April 2, at 6 p.m. at Chicago's United Center on ESPNU.
